Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,025 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 627 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Bellingham International Airport (KBLI), the aircraft initiated its takeoff roll on runway 34. The local weather conditions presented a moderate temperature of 18 °C and a gentle headwind of 3 kt. As the aircraft accelerated down the runway, it reached liftoff speed of 95 kt at 775 m, utilizing 38% of the available runway length. The aircraft then transitioned into a steady climb, ascending from 705 ft above sea level to 23,007 ft, a vertical gain of 22,302 ft, over a distance of 32 nm in 12 minutes.
The enroute climb phase concluded as the aircraft entered a level cruise, maintaining an altitude of 23,007 ft. This phase lasted for 276 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a significant distance of 1,368 nm. The cruise phase was punctuated by a descent initiated 4 miles southwest of Burkburnett, Texas, where the aircraft began its gradual descent from 22,992 ft to 2,366 ft, a decrease of 20,626 ft, over a distance of 65 nm in 17 minutes. The aircraft then transitioned into a final approach to runway 17 at Halliburton Field (KDUC), aligning itself with the runway at 4 nm and 1,246 ft above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on runway 17, with a touchdown speed of 87 kt, slightly above the target speed. The touchdown point was 198 m beyond the touchdown zone, and the aircraft's touchdown rate was an impressive -84 fpm. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also satisfactory. The aircraft utilized 972 kg of fuel to complete the 1,475 nm journey, which took a total of 313 minutes. Following a brief taxiing period of 1 minute, the aircraft came to a stop at the parking area, concluding a successful flight.
The aircraft touched down on runway 17 at KDUC Halliburton Field with a satisfactory approach quality, demonstrating good control and precision throughout the descent. The final approach was initiated from a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,246 feet above ground level, heading 179.0° from the north. The threshold height was well within acceptable limits, allowing for a smooth transition to the landing phase.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was slightly above the target threshold speed, registering 92 knots. However, the touchdown point was located 198 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight over-run. The touchdown speed of 87 knots was also a little fast, but the touchdown rate of -84 feet per minute was excellent, demonstrating a controlled and stable descent. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, with the aircraft centered on the runway centerline.
The rollout phase was equally impressive, with the aircraft maintaining perfect alignment on the runway centerline. The total landing distance of 1,124 meters was 58% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. Overall, the landing was considered satisfactory, with a score of 97.8% reflecting the high level of proficiency demonstrated by the pilot. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 26°C and a light headwind of 2 knots, contributed to a relatively straightforward landing.
