MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,891 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,891 m of the 3,084 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 397 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a short taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, taking less than a minute and covering less than a nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing Stratotanker, then departed from runway 15 at KBAB Beale Air Force Base. The takeoff distance was 1,394 meters, which accounted for 38% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 186 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 17 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 9 knots at 104 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 7 knots and a headwind of 5 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb shortly after departing the base, rising from an altitude of 1,145 feet above sea level to 31,952 feet above sea level. This climb, which covered a distance of 78 nautical miles, took 11 minutes and involved an increase in altitude of 30,807 feet.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 16 minutes and covered a distance of 135 nautical miles. This phase began approximately 1 mile west of M45 Alpine County Markleeville in California. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 11 miles west of 0L4 Lida Junction Airport in Goldfield, Nevada. During this descent, the aircraft dropped from an altitude of 31,748 feet above sea level to 10,014 feet above sea level, a decrease of 21,734 feet in 14 minutes and covering a distance of 94 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered a distance of 13 nautical miles. This phase began 5 miles west of Indian Springs in Nevada. The aircraft then began its final descent, which started 10 miles southeast of Indian Springs. During this descent, the aircraft dropped from an altitude of 9,898 feet above sea level to 3,266 feet above sea level, a decrease of 6,631 feet in 9 minutes and covering a distance of 29 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 21R at KLSV Nellis Air Force Base was made from the northeast, with the aircraft heading 223.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,412 feet above ground level and a distance of 3 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 21R, which had a length of 3,084 meters. The threshold height at 70 feet above ground level was above the target, and the threshold speed was 157 knots.
The touchdown distance was good, with the aircraft coming to rest at a distance of 397 meters from the start of the runway. The touchdown speed was 154 knots, and the touchdown rate was very heavy at -841 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 0 knots at 284 degrees. There was no crosswind or headwind.
The total landing distance was 1,782 meters, which accounted for 58% of the runway. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.1 meters from the centerline. The total flight distance was 355 nautical miles, and the flight took 55 minutes to complete. The aircraft used a total of 11,426 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing Stratotanker successfully landed on runway 21R at KLSV Nellis Air Force Base, achieving a score of 84.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north east, heading 223.0° at 3 nautical miles and 1,412 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 154 knots.
The touchdown distance was satisfactory, measuring 397 meters, and the aircraft maintained perfect runway touchdown alignment. However, the touchdown rate was quite heavy, at -841 feet per minute (fpm), which may indicate a slight deviation from the ideal landing technique. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 5°C and a calm wind of 0 knots at 284°.
The total landing distance of 1,782 meters was 58% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. Nevertheless, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.1 meters from the centerline, which may indicate a slight deviation in the pilot's control during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown rate and runway rollout alignment. The pilot's skills and experience were evident in the execution of the final approach and touchdown, but some adjustments may be necessary to achieve a higher score.
