Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,812 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,812 m of the 3,986 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 402 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The Airbus A321 then departed from runway 25C at Frankfurt Airport (EDDF), with a takeoff distance of 1,330 meters, which was 33% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 149 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 5°C temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 90°. The crosswind was 1 knot, while the tailwind was 2 knots. The enroute climb began 1 mile south of Kelsterbach, Hessen, Germany, and saw the aircraft ascend from 1,350 feet above sea level to 27,605 feet above sea level, an increase of 26,255 feet in 15 minutes, covering a distance of 75 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile northeast of Vacha, Thuringia, Germany, and lasted for 10 minutes, covering a distance of 78 nautical miles. The enroute descent began 1 mile west of Grosskorbetha, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, and saw the aircraft descend from 27,663 feet above sea level to 1,459 feet above sea level, a decrease of 26,205 feet in 15 minutes, covering a distance of 82 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 07R at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (EDDB) was made from the southwest, heading 69.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,291 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 07R was successful, with a touchdown distance of 402 meters, which was good. The touchdown speed was also good at 128 knots, but the touchdown rate was hard at -476 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 2°C temperature and a wind speed of 3 knots at 160°. The crosswind was 3 knots, while the headwind was 0 knots. The total landing distance was 1,731 meters, which was 43% of the runway length. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.2 meters from the centerline. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
In total, the flight distance was 243 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 52 minutes. The aircraft used 2,538 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed on runway 07R at EDDB Berlin Brandenburg Airport, achieving a score of 91.8%. The final approach was initiated from the southwest, heading 69.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,291 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft successfully touched down on the runway, with a touchdown speed of 128 knots, which was within the acceptable range.
The threshold height at 65 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft was slightly higher than desired at the point of touchdown. However, the threshold speed of 134 knots was good, indicating that the aircraft was properly configured for landing. The touchdown distance of 402 meters was also within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's ability to control the aircraft's descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 2°C and a wind speed of 3 knots from a direction of 160°. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was negligible. These conditions did not appear to have a significant impact on the landing, as the aircraft was able to maintain a stable approach and touchdown.
However, the touchdown rate of -476 feet per minute (fpm) was considered hard, indicating that the aircraft may have experienced a slightly rough touchdown. Additionally, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.2 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's trajectory during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft touching down on the runway and coming to a stop within a reasonable distance. However, there were some minor issues with the touchdown rate and runway rollout alignment, which may be addressed in future training or operations.
