Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,602 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,602 m of the 3,570 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 349 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Nantes Atlantique Airport, taking 7 minutes and covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. Departure roll occurred on runway 21, with the aircraft taking off after covering 53% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 1,425 meters, and the liftoff speed was 149 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 13°C, with a wind speed of 4 knots at 249°. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was also 3 knots. As the aircraft took off, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile northwest of Pont-Saint-Martin in the Pays de la Loire region of France. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 1,097 feet above sea level to 30,355 feet, an increase of 29,258 feet, in 17 minutes and covering a distance of 103 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which began 1 mile south of Charroux in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. This phase lasted for 21 minutes and covered a distance of 172 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent, which began 1 mile north of Montromant in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region of France. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 30,493 feet to 17,775 feet, a decrease of 12,718 feet, in 7 minutes and covering a distance of 47 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which began 1 mile northwest of Belley in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region of France. This phase lasted for 2 minutes and covered a distance of 11 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its final descent, which began overhead Motz in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region of France. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 17,558 feet to 2,657 feet, a decrease of 14,901 feet, in 13 minutes and covering a distance of 27 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 22 at Geneva Cointrin International Airport was made from the northeast, with the aircraft heading 226.0° at an altitude of 1,254 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing on runway 22 was successful, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 138 knots and a distance of 351 meters. The touchdown rate was hard at -428 feet per minute, but the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 12°C, with a wind speed of 2 knots at 202°. The crosswind component was 1 knot, while the headwind component was 2 knots. The total landing distance was 1,528 meters, which was 43% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was also very good.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking 3 minutes and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 367 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 74 minutes. The aircraft used 3,131 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at Geneva Cointrin International Airport (LSGG) on runway 22, achieving a high score of 97.5%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north east, heading 226.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,254 feet above ground level (agl).
The landing was executed with good threshold height, indicating that the aircraft was properly configured for landing. The threshold speed of 138 knots was also within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's ability to manage the aircraft's speed during the final approach. However, the touchdown speed of 138 knots was slightly faster than ideal, which may have contributed to a harder touchdown rate.
The touchdown rate of -428 feet per minute (fpm) was considered hard, suggesting that the aircraft may have touched down with a bit too much force. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 12°C and a gentle headwind of 2 knots. The crosswind component was minimal, at 1 knot, which further contributed to a smooth landing.
The total landing distance of 1,528 meters was 43% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly controlled during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good skills and judgment in managing the aircraft's speed, altitude, and alignment during the final approach and touchdown phases.
