MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 8,612 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,160 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking area to the runway at KTVL Lake Tahoe Airport, which took approximately 6 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 36, with a takeoff distance of 3,843 feet, which accounted for 67% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 138 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started 1 mile south of South Lake Tahoe, California, and ascended from 7,277 feet above sea level to 19,133 feet, an increase of 11,856 feet in just 5 minutes, covering a distance of 15 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise began 12 miles south of the CA50 Hughes/Malibu Heliport in Malibu, California, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering 20 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 3 miles west of Pollock Pines, California, and involved a decrease of 17,431 feet from 18,617 feet above sea level to 1,186 feet in 9 minutes, covering a distance of 44 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 17R at KSMF Sacramento International Airport was made from the north, with a heading of 181.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,128 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 17R was successful, with a touchdown distance of 1,155 feet, which was good. The touchdown speed was 108 knots, also within the target range. However, the touchdown rate was hard at -473 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the runway rollout alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 84 degrees Fahrenheit, with a wind speed of 8 knots at 180 degrees. The crosswind was 0 knots, and the headwind was 8 knots. The total landing distance was 2,478 feet, which accounted for 29% of the runway. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took approximately 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 86 nautical miles, and the flight used 900 pounds of fuel, lasting a total of 31 minutes.
Aircraft C750 successfully landed on runway 17R at KSMF Sacramento International Airport, achieving a score of 91.4%. The final approach was initiated from the north, heading 181.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,128 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 108 knots, which was within the acceptable range. The touchdown distance of 1,155 feet was also considered good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the touchdown rate of -473 feet per minute (fpm) was classified as hard, suggesting that the aircraft may have experienced a slight jolt upon touchdown.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 84°F and a headwind of 8 knots from a direction of 180°. This headwind component helped to reduce the aircraft's ground speed and made the landing more manageable.
The total landing distance of 2,478 feet was 29% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the runway's length of 8,612 feet. This suggests that the aircraft was able to stop quickly and efficiently after touchdown. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a good touchdown speed and distance, and a perfect runway rollout alignment. However, the hard touchdown rate may require further attention to ensure a smoother landing experience.
