Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,518 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,518 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 491 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a TBM 850, then departed from runway 25 at KBIL Billings Logan International Airport. The takeoff distance was 871 meters, which accounted for 52% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 101 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 14°C and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 219°. This resulted in a crosswind of 7 knots and a headwind of 7 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 2 miles west of KBIL Billings Logan International Airport, rising from an altitude of 4,572 feet above sea level to 6,444 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,872 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 3 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 2 miles east of 35MT Haynes Ranch Airport. This phase lasted for 33 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 124 nautical miles. The enroute descent phase began 33 miles south of Malta, where the aircraft descended from an altitude of 7,059 feet above sea level to 3,563 feet above sea level, a decrease of 3,496 feet in 6 minutes, covering a distance of 26 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 21 miles southwest of Glasgow. This phase lasted for 11 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 26 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 26 at KGGW Glasgow Valley County Airport Wokal Field was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 270° at an altitude of 1,015 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 26 was characterized by a touchdown point that was 58 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 83 knots, which was too high, and the touchdown rate was perfect at -49 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.3 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 12°C and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 270°, resulting in a crosswind of 0 knots and a headwind of 4 knots.
The total landing distance was 845 meters, which accounted for 56% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 8.4 meters from the centerline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took just 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 187 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 63 minutes. The aircraft used a total of -49 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The TBM 850 aircraft successfully landed at KGGW Glasgow Valley County Airport Wokal Field, achieving a score of 93.7%. The final approach was conducted from the east, heading 270.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,015 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 26, which has a length of 1,518 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, but the threshold speed was too high at 83 knots. This indicates that the pilot may have been able to slow down the aircraft more efficiently before touchdown. The touchdown point was 58 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which suggests that the pilot may have been able to make a more precise landing. The touchdown speed of 83 knots was also too fast, which could have resulted in a longer landing distance.
The touchdown rate of -49 feet per minute (fpm) was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down smoothly and without any excessive deceleration. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.3 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 12°C and a wind speed of 4 knots from 270°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind component and a headwind of 4 knots, which may have helped to slow down the aircraft during the approach.
The total landing distance was 845 meters, which is 56% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the pilot was able to slow down the aircraft efficiently and make a smooth touchdown. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.4 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the rollout.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters. The pilot may have been able to improve the landing by slowing down the aircraft more efficiently before touchdown and making a more precise alignment during the approach and rollout.
