Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,576 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,576 m of the 2,975 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 201 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-300, then departed from runway 16L at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (KSEA). The takeoff distance was 1,553 meters, which accounted for 43% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 191 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 13 knots at 230 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 10 knots and a headwind of 9 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile southwest of SeaTac, and climbed from 1,394 feet above sea level to 31,765 feet above sea level, an increase of 30,371 feet, in 16 minutes and covering 90 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 9 miles west of Grayland, Washington, and lasted for 106 minutes, covering 799 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time from a location with coordinates 34.7772066 latitude and -132.0470347 longitude, and climbed from 32,875 feet above sea level to 34,764 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,889 feet, in 2 minutes and covering 14 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise continued, starting from a location with coordinates 34.5300711 latitude and -132.0989621 longitude, and lasted for 168 minutes, covering 1,387 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time from a location with coordinates 12.1137946 latitude and -138.3731161 longitude, and climbed from 36,066 feet above sea level to 37,477 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,411 feet, in 2 minutes and covering 14 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise continued once again, starting from a location with coordinates 11.8661549 latitude and -138.4470576 longitude, and lasted for 228 minutes, covering 1,883 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 11 miles east of Tautira, Iles du Vent, French Polynesia, and descended from 37,230 feet above sea level to 1,179 feet above sea level, a decrease of 36,051 feet, in 21 minutes and covering 41 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 04 at Faa'a International Airport (NTAA) was made from the southwest, heading 55.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,165 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown speed of 130 knots and a touchdown distance of 203 meters. The touchdown rate was hard at -475 feet per minute, but the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 4 knots at 113 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 2 knots. The total landing distance was 1,498 meters, which accounted for 50% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also very good.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took less than 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 4,240 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 553 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 74,058 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 777-300 aircraft successfully landed at NTAA Faa'a International Airport, achieving a high score of 96.8%. The final approach to runway 04 was conducted from the southwest, with a heading of 55.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,165 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 134 knots, which was slightly below the target threshold speed. However, the touchdown distance of 203 meters was considered good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown speed of 130 knots was also within acceptable limits, further emphasizing the pilot's skill in executing a precise landing.
One area for improvement noted in the report was the touchdown rate, which was recorded at -475 feet per minute (fpm). This is considered hard, suggesting that the aircraft may have touched down with a slightly higher rate of descent than desired. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was rated as very good, indicating that the aircraft was well-aligned with the runway at the moment of touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 25°C and a gentle wind of 4 knots at 113°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 2 knots. These conditions likely contributed to the smooth and controlled nature of the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,498 meters was 50% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also rated as very good, indicating that the aircraft maintained a stable and controlled alignment with the runway during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft executing a precise and controlled touchdown on the runway. While there were some minor areas for improvement, the pilot's skill and experience were evident throughout the landing, resulting in a high score of 96.8%.
