Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,394 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,394 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 299 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 26 at EGKO Husbands Bosworth Airfield, a small airfield in Leicestershire, England. The Cessna 208B aircraft accelerated down the runway, covering a distance of 411 meters, which accounted for 29% of the runway's length. The aircraft lifted off the ground at a speed of 74 knots, marking the start of its ascent.
As the aircraft climbed, it encountered a local weather condition of 16°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 194°. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 2 knots. The aircraft continued to climb, reaching an altitude of 10,414 feet above sea level, an increase of 9,009 feet from its initial altitude of 1,405 feet. This climb took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 16 nautical miles.
Once the aircraft reached its cruising altitude, it began a level cruise 1 mile southwest of Somerby, Leicestershire. This phase of the flight lasted for 5 minutes and covered a distance of 14 nautical miles. Following the cruise, the aircraft started its descent, which began overhead Husbands Bosworth, Leicestershire. The descent took 3 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile, during which the aircraft decreased its altitude from 10,438 feet to 835 feet.
The final approach to runway 26 at EGKO Husbands Bosworth Airfield was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 260° at an altitude of 238 feet above ground level and 1 nautical mile from the runway. The aircraft landed on the runway, which was 1,394 meters long, and touched down at a speed of 64 knots, which was slightly faster than the target speed. The touchdown distance was 298 meters, and the touchdown rate was smooth at -138 feet per minute.
However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 13.5 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 26.2 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions during the landing were 15°C temperature and a wind speed of 3 knots from a direction of 200°, with a crosswind component of 3 knots and a headwind component of 2 knots.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking 1 minute and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 34 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 24 minutes. The aircraft used 70 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna 208B aircraft successfully landed at EGKO Husbands Bosworth Airfield, achieving an overall score of 86.9%. The final approach to runway 26 was conducted from the east, heading 260.0° at 1 nm and 238 ft above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was found to be above the target speed, registering 74 kt. This indicates that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft's descent and was able to maintain a safe speed during the landing. The touchdown distance of 298 m was also considered good, suggesting that the pilot had a smooth and controlled approach.
However, the touchdown speed of 64 kt was slightly faster than desired, which may have resulted in a slightly longer rollout distance. The touchdown rate of -138 fpm was smooth, indicating that the pilot had a good sense of the aircraft's descent and was able to control the rate of descent effectively.
One area for improvement was the runway touchdown position, which was misaligned by 13.5 m from the centreline. This may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's approach or a slight wind effect. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15 °C and a light wind of 3 kt at 200°, were not particularly challenging.
The total landing distance of 580 m was 42% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 26.2 m from the centreline, which may have been due to the same factors that contributed to the initial touchdown position deviation.
Overall, the landing was considered safe and successful, with the pilot demonstrating good control and judgment throughout the approach and landing phases. However, there are areas for improvement, particularly in terms of touchdown speed and runway alignment.
