Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 2,172 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,172 m of the 3,138 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 822 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 16 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A321, then departed from runway 03L at LGAV Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport. The takeoff distance was 2,510 meters, which accounted for 78% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 177 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 18°C and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 270°.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it began its enroute climb 1 mile east of Spata, Attica, Greece. The climb took 28 minutes and covered a distance of 157 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,376 feet above sea level to 33,786 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,410 feet. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 3 miles south of Vigla, Epirus, Greece. This phase lasted for 91 minutes and covered a distance of 674 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent 1 mile south of Lenz, Kanton Graubunden, Switzerland. The descent took 21 minutes and covered a distance of 69 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 34,040 feet above sea level to 2,686 feet above sea level, a decrease of 31,354 feet. The final approach to runway 14 at LSZH Zürich Airport was made from the north-west, with the aircraft heading 137.0° at an altitude of 1,275 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 14 at LSZH Zürich Airport was successful, with the touchdown point being 408 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was a little fast at 137 knots, but the touchdown rate was firm at -366 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 270°.
Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took 8 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 911 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 160 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 7,775 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at Zürich Airport (LSZH) on runway 14, achieving a score of 91.4%. The final approach was initiated from the north-west, heading 137.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,275 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft's approach and landing performance were satisfactory, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 144 knots, which is within the acceptable range. However, the touchdown speed of 137 knots was slightly higher than the ideal speed, indicating that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to achieve a smoother touchdown.
The touchdown point was located 408 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively long distance. The touchdown rate of -366 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, indicating that the aircraft touched down with a significant amount of energy. Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, suggesting that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft throughout the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°. The crosswind and tailwind components were both minimal, at 1 knot, which reduced the risk of the aircraft being blown off course during the landing.
The total landing distance of 2,093 meters was 67% of the runway length, which is a relatively long distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase and was able to bring the aircraft to a stop safely.
Overall, the landing was satisfactory, but there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and distance. With some adjustments to the approach and landing technique, the pilot may be able to achieve a more efficient and smoother landing.
