See Departure Roll
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: seven checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
At the 500 ft gate: off the centreline.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 11,471 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,919 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight was conducted on an Airbus A340 aircraft. The taxiing process from the parking area to the runway took approximately 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 06 at UUWW Vnukovo International Airport. The takeoff distance was 3,950 feet, which accounted for 34% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 48 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 70°F and a wind speed of 8 knots at a direction of 59°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 8 knots. The aircraft then entered a right-hand pattern from runway 06, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile in 81 seconds. The pattern crosswind was also from the right, and the aircraft covered this distance in 15 seconds.
The aircraft then proceeded to the downwind turn, which covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The angle to the runway was 45 degrees, and the aircraft was heading at 177.2°. The final approach to runway 06 was made from the southwest, with the aircraft heading at 73.0° at an altitude of 1 nautical mile and 388 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 06 was successful, with the threshold height being good and the threshold speed being slightly below the target at 140 knots. The touchdown point was 541 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 124 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown rate was also smooth at -148 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 19 feet from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 72°F and a wind speed of 4 knots at a direction of 60°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 4 knots. The total landing distance was 3,557 feet, which accounted for 31% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The total flight distance was 5 nautical miles, and the flight took approximately 8 minutes to complete. The aircraft used a total of 65,778 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A340 successfully landed at UUWW Vnukovo International Airport, achieving a score of 97.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 73.0° at 1 nautical mile and 388 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on runway 06, which has a length of 11,471 feet.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly below the target speed of 140 knots, which may have been due to the aircraft's descent rate or the pilot's decision to slow down slightly before touchdown. The touchdown point was 541 feet beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation.
The touchdown speed of 124 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -148 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 19 feet from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's heading or a minor error in the pilot's alignment.
The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 72°F and a wind speed of 4 knots at 60°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, and the headwind component was 4 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the landing.
The total landing distance was 3,557 feet, which is 31% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled and the pilots executed the landing smoothly. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was aligned with the centerline of the runway after touchdown and rolled out smoothly.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft scored high marks for its precision and control. The pilots demonstrated excellent skills and judgment, and the aircraft performed well in the challenging weather conditions.
