Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: off the centreline and speed below the reference speed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,831 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 324 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 26R at KONT Ontario International Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,355 meters, which is 40% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 154 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 0 knots at 90 degrees. There was no crosswind or headwind. The enroute climb started 1 mile east of Ontario, California, and the aircraft climbed from an altitude of 1,880 feet above sea level to 36,998 feet above sea level, an increase of 35,119 feet, in 27 minutes and covering a distance of 156 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 7 miles south of Blue Diamond, Nevada, and lasted for 227 minutes, covering a distance of 1,793 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 1 mile north of KNEV Derick Ultralight Flightpark Newville, Pennsylvania, and descended from 36,999 feet above sea level to 1,056 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,943 feet, in 22 minutes and covering a distance of 126 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 24 at KTTN Trenton Mercer Airport was made from the north-east, heading 230.0 degrees at 3 nautical miles and 892 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 24, which has a length of 1,831 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 137 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 324 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 132 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -204 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 0 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 2 knots at 210 degrees. There was a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 2 knots. The total landing distance was 1,200 meters, which is 66% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 2,088 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 289 minutes. The aircraft used 8,309 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at KTTN Trenton Mercer Airport, demonstrating a high level of proficiency in its approach and landing procedures. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the north-east, heading 230.0° at a distance of 3 nautical miles and an altitude of 892 feet above ground level (agl).
The final approach to runway 24 was executed with precision, with the aircraft maintaining a good threshold height and speed. The threshold speed of 137 knots was within the acceptable range, indicating that the pilot had effectively managed the aircraft's descent and speed. The touchdown distance of 324 meters was also within the expected parameters, suggesting that the pilot had accurately judged the aircraft's approach and landing configuration.
However, there was a slight deviation in the touchdown speed, which was recorded at 132 knots, slightly above the optimal range. This may have resulted in a slightly higher touchdown rate of -204 feet per minute (fpm), which is considered fair. Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot had maintained control of the aircraft throughout the approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 0°C and a wind speed of 2 knots from 210°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 2 knots, which is considered favorable for landing. The total landing distance of 1,200 meters was 66% of the runway length, indicating that the pilot had effectively managed the aircraft's deceleration and rollout.
The runway rollout alignment was perfect, demonstrating that the pilot had maintained control of the aircraft throughout the landing process. Overall, the Boeing 737-800 aircraft's landing at KTTN Trenton Mercer Airport was a success, with a score of 99.8% indicating a high level of proficiency in its approach and landing procedures.
