MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,334 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 308 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 10 at SBPB Doutor João Silva Filho International Airport. The Airbus A320 took off with a takeoff distance of 422 meters, which accounted for 18% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 152 knots, and the aircraft climbed steadily into the sky.
As the aircraft climbed, it encountered local weather conditions of 30 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 7 knots at 73 degrees. The crosswind was negligible, but the headwind was 7 knots, which aided the aircraft's ascent. The enroute climb started overhead SBPB Doutor João Silva Filho International Airport Parnaíba, where the aircraft climbed from 1,021 feet above sea level to 1,770 feet, an increase of 749 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles.
After reaching the desired altitude, the aircraft began its enroute descent, which started 1 mile northwest of SBPB Doutor João Silva Filho International Airport Parnaíba. The descent was from 1,761 feet above sea level to 399 feet, a decrease of 1,362 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 10 at SBPB Doutor João Silva Filho International Airport from the west, heading 75.0 degrees at 1 nautical mile and 371 feet above ground level.
The landing was smooth, with a threshold speed of 114 knots and a touchdown speed of 108 knots. The touchdown distance was 307 meters, which was 33% of the runway length. The touchdown rate was smooth at -135 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions during landing were 27 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots at 73 degrees, with a negligible crosswind and a headwind of 10 knots.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway, taking 1 minute and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 5 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 5 minutes. The aircraft used 115 kilograms of fuel during the flight. Overall, the flight was executed smoothly, with perfect runway rollout alignment and a smooth touchdown.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at SBPB Doutor João Silva Filho International Airport, showcasing exceptional piloting skills and adherence to standard operating procedures. The aircraft approached the runway from the west, heading 75.0° at a distance of 1 nautical mile and an altitude of 371 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon final approach, the pilots demonstrated precise control, ensuring a smooth touchdown on runway 10. The threshold height was satisfactory, and the threshold speed of 114 knots was well within the acceptable range. The touchdown distance of 307 meters was also within the expected parameters, indicating a well-executed landing.
The touchdown speed of 108 knots was good, and the rate of descent was smooth at -135 feet per minute. This suggests that the pilots had a good understanding of the aircraft's performance and were able to manage the descent effectively. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilots had maintained a steady course and were well-aligned with the runway.
The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 27°C and a gentle headwind of 10 knots at 73°. The crosswind component was negligible, which further contributed to the smooth landing. The total landing distance of 772 meters was 33% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the pilots had maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, this landing was a testament to the pilots' skill and experience, as well as the aircraft's performance and handling characteristics.
