Keep the approach speed on target
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,491 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 441 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Boeing 737-800 commenced at EGPL Benbecula Airport in Scotland. The taxi from the parking area to the runway was quick, taking only 2 minutes to cover less than 1 nm. The departure roll was from runway 06, with a takeoff distance of 755 m, which accounted for 44% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 140 kn. The local weather at the time indicated a temperature of 5°C, with a light wind of 2 kn coming from 110°, resulting in minimal crosswind and headwind conditions.
The enroute climb began over EGPL Benbecula Airport Balivanich, ascending from 1,079 ft asl to 40,962 ft asl. This climb covered a distance of 240 nm and took 31 minutes. The subsequent level cruise phase commenced 21 miles east of Longhoughton in England and lasted 139 minutes, covering a distance of 1,265 nm.
The descent phase of the flight began 3 miles north of Kostyantynivka in Ukraine. The aircraft descended from 41,047 ft asl to 1,873 ft asl, taking 13 minutes to decrease by 39,174 ft over a distance of 91 nm. The landing took place on runway 03 at UKOH Kherson International Airport, which has a runway length of 2,491 m. The aircraft touched down at a speed of 121 kn, with a Vertical Speed Indicator (VSI) reading of -138 ft/m. The landing occurred 443 m from the threshold, with a total landing distance of 907 m, which represented 36% of the runway's length. The local weather conditions at the time of landing included a temperature of 1 °C and a light tailwind of 2 kn.
Following the touchdown, the taxi back to the parking area from the runway was brief, taking only 1 minute. The total flight distance covered was 1,604 nm, with a total flight time of 192 minutes. The flight consumed 7,795 kg of fuel during the journey.
