Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,378 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 123 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an AT802 Aerial Application Sprayer, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LEVX Vigo Airport. This process took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 19, taking off with a takeoff distance of 297 meters, which accounted for 13% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 70 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 2 knots at a direction of 32 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a tailwind of 2 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb overhead LEVX Vigo Airport, Vigo, Galicia, Spain, and climbed from an altitude of 1,659 feet above sea level to 2,378 feet above sea level, an increase of 720 feet, in just 1 minute and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 1 mile northwest of Porrino, Galicia, Spain, and lasted for 4 minutes, covering a distance of 14 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb 2 miles southwest of LPVA Aerodromo do Cerval Valenca, Distrito de Viana do Castelo, Portugal, and climbed from an altitude of 2,071 feet above sea level to 2,732 feet above sea level, an increase of 661 feet, in 2 minutes and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The enroute level cruise started 1 mile southwest of LPVA Aerodromo do Cerval Valenca and lasted for 6 minutes, covering a distance of 18 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 19 at LEVX Vigo Airport was made from the north, heading 192.0 degrees at an altitude of 476 feet above ground level and a distance of 1 nautical mile from the runway.
The landing on runway 19 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 120 meters and a touchdown speed of 67 knots, which was good. The touchdown rate was firm at -341 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 2 knots at a direction of 37 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 1 knot and a tailwind of 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 414 meters, which accounted for 17% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, taking 2 minutes and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 40 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 20 minutes. The aircraft used 74 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The AT802 Aerial Application Sprayer successfully landed at LEVX Vigo Airport, achieving a score of 96.0%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 192.0° at 1 nautical mile and 476 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot executed a precise final approach, aligning perfectly with the runway threshold.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was slightly below the target threshold speed of 72 knots, registering at 67 knots. This indicates a controlled and gentle touchdown, which is essential for preventing damage to the aircraft and ensuring the safety of the occupants. The touchdown distance of 120 meters was also within acceptable limits, demonstrating the pilot's skill in navigating the aircraft to a precise landing spot.
The aircraft's touchdown rate was firm, at -341 feet per minute (fpm), which is a critical factor in preventing the aircraft from bouncing or becoming airborne again after touchdown. This firm touchdown rate also suggests that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft throughout the landing process.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a gentle wind of 2 knots at 37°. The crosswind component was minimal, at 1 knot, while the tailwind component was 2 knots. These conditions did not pose a significant challenge to the pilot, allowing for a smooth and controlled landing.
The total landing distance of 414 meters was only 17% of the runway length, indicating that the pilot executed a precise and controlled landing. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain control of the aircraft after touchdown and navigate it to a safe stop.
Overall, the landing of the AT802 Aerial Application Sprayer at LEVX Vigo Airport was a success, with the pilot executing a precise and controlled approach, touchdown, and rollout. The aircraft's performance and the pilot's skills were well-suited to the local weather conditions, resulting in a safe and efficient landing.
