Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,299 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,299 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 798 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 12 at Kalokol Airport, a Beechcraft King Air 350 taking to the skies. The aircraft lifted off the ground after a takeoff distance of 767 meters, which was 76% of the available runway. The liftoff speed was 122 knots, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 37 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 7 knots at 124 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile south east of Kalokol Airport, rising from an altitude of 2,271 feet above sea level to 6,100 feet above sea level in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles. The climb was followed by an enroute level cruise that lasted 11 minutes and covered 45 nautical miles, taking the aircraft 5 miles south west of Kalokol Airport.
The aircraft then began another enroute climb 19 miles north of Lokichar Airport, rising from 6,308 feet above sea level to 7,761 feet above sea level in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. Following this climb, the aircraft began its enroute descent 12 miles north west of Lokichar Airport, descending from 7,767 feet above sea level to 7,117 feet above sea level in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another enroute level cruise, this time lasting 7 minutes and covering 27 nautical miles, as it flew 5 miles north east of Katilu Airport. The cruise was followed by an enroute descent 2 miles north west of Turkwel Gorge Airport, where the aircraft descended from 6,901 feet above sea level to 5,034 feet above sea level in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 03 at Turkwel Gorge Airport was made from the south, with the aircraft heading 12.0 degrees at 2 nautical miles and 2,316 feet above ground level. The landing was made on the runway, which was 1,299 meters long, but the threshold height was significantly above the target, and the threshold speed was excessively high at 143 knots.
The touchdown point was very long, using more than 50% of the available runway, and the touchdown speed was excessively fast at 124 knots. The touchdown rate was very hard at -507 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.3 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 31 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 9 knots at 77 degrees.
The total landing distance was 1,038 meters, which was 80% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 16.0 meters from the centreline. The total flight distance was 104 nautical miles, taking 30 minutes, and the aircraft used 181 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Beechcraft King Air 350 aircraft has successfully landed at HUAA Turkwel Gorge Airport, but the landing was not without its issues. The final approach to runway 03 from the south was conducted at a heading of 12.0°, with the aircraft at 2 nautical miles and 2,316 feet above ground level. However, the threshold height at 93 feet above ground level was significantly above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been too high on approach.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down at a speed of 124 knots, which was excessively fast. This resulted in a very hard touchdown rate of -507 feet per minute, indicating that the aircraft may have been subjected to a significant amount of stress upon landing. Furthermore, the touchdown point was very long, using more than 50% of the available runway, which may have increased the risk of overrun.
The runway touchdown position was also slightly misaligned by 6.3 meters from the centreline, which may have made the landing more challenging. Additionally, the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 16.0 meters from the centreline, which could have made it more difficult for the aircraft to come to a stop safely.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were hot, with a temperature of 31°C, and a moderate wind of 9 knots at 77°. The crosswind and headwind components were both 7 knots, which may have contributed to the difficulties experienced during the landing.
Overall, while the Beechcraft King Air 350 was able to land safely at HUAA Turkwel Gorge Airport, the landing was not without its issues, and there are several areas for improvement. The high touchdown speed, hard touchdown rate, and long touchdown point all indicate that the pilot may have been too aggressive on approach, and that the aircraft may have been subjected to excessive stress upon landing.
