Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,792 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,792 m of the 3,201 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 607 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 02 at RPLC Clark International Airport / Clark Air Base. The Airbus A320 took off after a distance of 2,394 meters, which is 75% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 160 knots, and the aircraft climbed steadily into the sky.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb overhead Mabalacat City in Central Luzon, Philippines. From an initial altitude of 1,451 feet above sea level, the aircraft climbed to 2,413 feet in just one minute, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. This rapid ascent was a testament to the aircraft's impressive climb capabilities.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for four minutes and covered a distance of 11 nautical miles. This cruise phase allowed the aircraft to stabilize at a consistent altitude and speed, ensuring a smooth and efficient flight.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its final approach to runway 02 at RPLC Clark International Airport / Clark Air Base. The approach was made from the south, with the aircraft heading at 21.0 degrees and flying at an altitude of 1,071 feet above ground level. The aircraft maintained a steady course and speed, preparing for a smooth touchdown.
The landing was executed successfully, with the aircraft touching down on the runway at a speed of 132 knots. Although the touchdown speed was a little fast, the touchdown rate was firm at -305 feet per minute, indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the aircraft came to a stop after a total landing distance of 1,700 meters, which is 53% of the runway length.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking just four minutes to cover a distance of less than one nautical mile. The total flight distance was 20 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 12 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 336 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at RPLC Clark International Airport / Clark Air Base, achieving an overall score of 86.8%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 21.0° at a distance of 3 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,071 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 02, which has a length of 3,201 meters. The threshold height at 78 feet agl was found to be well above the target, indicating a safe margin for the aircraft to touch down. The threshold speed was also satisfactory at 138 knots, demonstrating a controlled approach.
However, the touchdown point was located 181 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight deviation from the intended landing path. The touchdown speed of 132 knots was slightly faster than the desired speed, resulting in a firm touchdown rate of -305 feet per minute (fpm). Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was deemed very good, indicating a stable and controlled landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15°C. The total landing distance of 1,700 meters accounted for 53% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
During the rollout phase, the aircraft maintained a very good alignment with the runway, demonstrating a high degree of control and stability. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft demonstrating a high level of proficiency in terms of approach, touchdown, and rollout.
