MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,132 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 373 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 07 at EGGW London Luton Airport. The Airbus A320 took off with a takeoff distance of 1,035 meters, which was 50% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 147 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were a temperature of 12 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 12 knots at 29 degrees. The crosswind component was 9 knots, while the headwind component was also 9 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile east of EGGW London Luton Airport. The climb took place from an initial altitude of 1,396 feet above sea level to a maximum altitude of 32,179 feet above sea level, an increase of 30,784 feet in just 15 minutes. During this time, the aircraft covered a distance of 73 nautical miles.
After reaching its cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started overhead Sinfin in Derby, England. This phase lasted for 9 minutes and covered a distance of 60 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 1 mile east of Nelson in Lancashire, England. The descent took place from a maximum altitude of 32,187 feet above sea level to an altitude of 2,868 feet above sea level, a decrease of 29,319 feet in 28 minutes. During this time, the aircraft covered a distance of 132 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started overhead Fauldhouse in West Lothian, Scotland. This phase lasted for just 2 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, which started overhead Blackburn in West Lothian, Scotland. The descent took place from an altitude of 2,868 feet above sea level to an altitude of 1,382 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,485 feet in just 2 minutes. During this time, the aircraft covered a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 06 at EGPH Edinburgh Airport was made from the south-west, with a heading of 59.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,262 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 06, which had a length of 2,132 meters. The threshold height at 61 feet above ground level was above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 139 knots.
The touchdown point was 221 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 137 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -249 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also perfect after the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 7 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 7 knots at 60 degrees. The crosswind component was 0 knots, while the headwind component was 7 knots. The total landing distance was 1,227 meters, which was 58% of the runway length. The taxiing to the parking from the runway took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 280 nautical miles, and the flight took 63 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 2,473 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at Edinburgh Airport (EGPH) on runway 06, achieving a score of 92.6%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south-west, heading 59.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,262 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on the designated runway.
Upon landing, the threshold height was found to be above the target, indicating that the aircraft touched down slightly higher than intended. However, the threshold speed was satisfactory at 139 knots, demonstrating good control and management of the aircraft's descent. The touchdown point was located 221 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation from the intended landing spot.
The touchdown speed of 137 knots was slightly faster than the desired speed, which may have contributed to a slightly higher touchdown rate of -249 feet per minute (fpm). Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was well-aligned with the runway during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 7°C and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 60°. The crosswind component was negligible, while the headwind component was 7 knots, which may have contributed to the slightly faster touchdown speed.
The total landing distance was 1,227 meters, which represents 58% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled and managed during the landing. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, demonstrating good control and management of the aircraft's speed and direction during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was executed with a high degree of precision and control, and the aircraft was safely brought to a stop on the runway. The score of 92.6% reflects the high standard of flying demonstrated by the pilot during this landing.
