Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,437 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 596 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Cessna Citation X Winglets| Silver Orange Turquoise was a smooth one, starting with a 9-minute taxi from the parking area to the runway at KLAN Capital City Airport. The departure roll from runway 28L was quick, with a takeoff distance of 842m, covering 33% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 140 kt despite the local weather conditions showing a temperature of -1°C and a 16 kt wind at 210°, with a crosswind of 14 kt and a headwind of 8 kt.
The enroute climb began over KLAN Capital City Airport in Lansing, Michigan, ascending from 1,994 ft asl to 45,021 ft asl, gaining 43,026 ft in elevation in just 20 minutes and covering 141 nm. The level cruise phase commenced 9 miles northwest of Bratenahl, Ohio and lasted 11 minutes, covering 106 nm. The descent started 1 mile southwest of KAXQ Clarion County Airport in Clarion, Pennsylvania, descending from 44,996 ft asl to 1,719 ft asl, a decrease of 43,277 ft over 21 minutes and covering 132 nm.
For the final approach to runway 13 at KMDT Harrisburg International Airport, the aircraft approached from the west at a heading of 117.0°, at a distance of 4 nm and altitude of 1,393 ft agl. The landing on the 2,437 m runway was successful, with a threshold speed of 123 kt. The touchdown point was slightly beyond the designated zone, with a touchdown speed of 109 kt and a firm touchdown rate of -321 ft/m. The total landing distance was 1,102 m, occupying 45% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment after landing was deemed very good.
Finally, the taxiing from the runway to the parking area took 4 minutes, covering less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 388 nm, with a total duration of 70 minutes and fuel usage of 852 kg. Despite varying weather conditions and challenging crosswinds during landing, the flight performance was efficient and safe.
The Cessna Citation X aircraft, painted in a distinctive silver, orange, and turquoise color scheme, successfully landed at KMDT Harrisburg International Airport on runway 13. The aircraft's final approach was initiated from the west, with a heading of 117.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,393 feet above ground level (agl).
The pilot's approach and landing were executed with precision, as evidenced by the good threshold height and threshold speed of 123 knots. The touchdown point was 169 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 109 knots was slightly below the threshold speed, indicating a controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -319 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, suggesting a smooth and stable landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 0°C and a wind speed of 18 knots from a direction of 178°. This resulted in a crosswind component of 16 knots and a headwind component of 8 knots. Despite these challenging conditions, the pilot successfully managed the aircraft's alignment and speed to achieve a very good runway touchdown alignment.
The total landing distance of 1,102 meters was 45% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft throughout the landing process. Overall, the landing was executed with a high degree of skill and precision, resulting in a score of 91.6%.
