Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,716 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,716 m of the 3,411 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 808 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-MAX8, then departed from runway 07R at Hong Kong International Airport (VHHH). The takeoff distance was 1,373 meters, which accounted for 38% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 157 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 15°C, with a wind speed of 18 knots at a direction of 19°. This resulted in a crosswind of 14 knots and a headwind of 12 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting overhead the Hong Kong International Airport. The climb took 22 minutes and covered a distance of 136 nautical miles, with the aircraft ascending from 1,084 feet above sea level to 40,408 feet above sea level, an increase of 39,325 feet.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted 14 minutes and covered 97 nautical miles. This cruise phase started 48 miles west of Pratas Island. The aircraft then began another climb phase, this time from 64 miles south of Dongsha Island Airport, where it ascended from 40,436 feet above sea level to 42,535 feet above sea level, an increase of 2,100 feet in just 4 minutes. The climb covered a distance of 33 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted 36 minutes and covered 254 nautical miles. This cruise phase started 94 miles southeast of Dongsha Island Airport. The aircraft then began its descent phase, starting 4 miles southwest of Bugallon, Philippines. The descent took 32 minutes and covered a distance of 98 nautical miles, with the aircraft descending from 42,566 feet above sea level to 1,331 feet above sea level, a decrease of 41,235 feet.
The final approach to runway 06 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (RPLL) was made from the southwest, with the aircraft heading 60.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,284 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with the touchdown point being 394 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 125 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was excellent at -77 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was also very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 27°C, with a wind speed of 2 knots at a direction of 60°. This resulted in a crosswind of 0 knots and a headwind of 2 knots. The total landing distance was 1,638 meters, which accounted for 48% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also very good.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 7 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 627 nautical miles, which was covered in 122 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 4,046 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft successfully landed at RPLL Ninoy Aquino International Airport, achieving a high score of 95.0%. The final approach to runway 06 was conducted from the southwest, with a heading of 60.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,284 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft's approach and landing performance were satisfactory, with the threshold height being slightly above the target. However, the threshold speed was good, indicating that the pilot maintained control and adhered to the recommended speed during the approach. The touchdown point was 394 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively safe distance considering the runway length.
The touchdown speed of 125 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -77 feet per minute (fpm) was excellent, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained a stable and aligned approach.
The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 27°C and a gentle wind of 2 knots at 60°. The crosswind component was negligible, and the headwind component was minimal, which contributed to the smooth landing.
The total landing distance of 1,638 meters was 48% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control and stability during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing performance of the Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft at RPLL Ninoy Aquino International Airport was satisfactory, with a high score of 95.0%. The pilot's skills and experience were evident in the smooth and controlled approach and landing, which resulted in a safe and efficient touchdown.
