MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Keep the approach speed on target
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,528 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 419 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Boeing 737-800 began with a smooth taxiing from the parking area to the runway, which took only 2 minutes to cover less than 1 nm. The departure roll from runway 16 at UBBQ Gabala International Airport was efficient, with a takeoff distance of 1,062 m, representing 31% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was recorded at 148 knots. The local weather at the time of departure indicated a temperature of 13 °C, with a 5-knot wind coming from 270 °, resulting in a crosswind of 5 knots and a tailwind of 1 knot.
The enroute climb commenced over UBBQ Gabala International Airport Gabala, with the aircraft ascending from 2,182 ft above sea level to 39,850 ft asl, marking an increase of 37,667 ft in just 37 minutes while covering a distance of 226 nm. After reaching the desired altitude, the flight settled into a level cruise phase, starting 4 miles northwest of Vale (Samtskhe-Javakheti, Georgia) and lasting 254 minutes, covering a significant distance of 1,444 nm.
As the journey progressed, the aircraft initiated its descent phase 3 miles south of Berguen (Kanton Graubunden, Switzerland), descending from 40,073 ft asl to 7,259 ft asl. The descent involved a decrease of 32,814 ft over a span of 12 minutes while covering 80 nm. The landing at LSZB Bern Airport was smooth, with the aircraft touching down on runway 14, which has a length of 1,528 m. The height at the threshold was measured at 39 ft above ground level, and the speed at the threshold was recorded at 127 knots.
The touchdown occurred 420 m from the threshold, with a touchdown speed of 122 knots and a VSI of -291 ft/min. The local weather at the time of landing indicated a temperature of 7 °C, with a calm wind coming from 360 °, resulting in no crosswind and no headwind. The total landing distance covered was 906 m, which represents 59% of the runway length. Following a successful landing, the aircraft proceeded to taxi from the runway to the parking area, taking only 1 minute to cover less than 1 nm.
The total flight distance for this journey in the Boeing 737-800 was 1,777 nm, with a total flight time of 548 minutes. Throughout the flight, the aircraft consumed 10,750 kg of fuel, showcasing the efficiency and reliability of the Boeing 737-800 during this comprehensive journey.
