MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,769 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,769 m of the 2,619 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 531 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took approximately 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The Airbus A320 then departed from runway 16 at SLVR Viru Viru International Airport, with a takeoff distance of 1,635 meters, which accounted for 47% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 158 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, a wind speed of 10 knots at 180 degrees, resulting in a 6-knot crosswind and a 9-knot headwind.
As the aircraft climbed out of the airport, it began its enroute climb 2 miles south east of SLVR Viru Viru International Airport, Santa Cruz. The climb started from an altitude of 2,257 feet above sea level and continued to 39,332 feet above sea level, an increase of 37,075 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 104 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise phase began 25 miles north of SLPL Padilla Airport J. Mendoza, Bolivia, and lasted for 44 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 308 nautical miles.
The enroute descent phase started 21 miles north east of Calama, Region de Antofagasta, Chile, and lasted for 23 minutes. The aircraft descended from an altitude of 38,931 feet above sea level to 1,829 feet above sea level, a decrease of 37,102 feet in 23 minutes, covering a distance of 126 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 01 at SCFA Andrés Sabella Gálvez International Airport was made from the south, with a heading of 3.0 degrees at 2 nautical miles and 1,397 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 01 at SCFA Andrés Sabella Gálvez International Airport was characterized by a touchdown point that was 107 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 146 knots, which was faster than the target speed, and the touchdown rate was firm at -336 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 14.5 meters from the centerline, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, a wind speed of 9 knots at 190 degrees, resulting in a 1-knot crosswind and a 9-knot tailwind.
The total landing distance was 1,680 meters, which accounted for 64% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 13.2 meters from the centerline. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, a process that took approximately 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 546 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 95 minutes, during which the aircraft used 2,976 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 aircraft successfully landed at SCFA Andrés Sabella Gálvez International Airport, but the landing was not without its issues. The final approach to runway 01 from the south was conducted at a heading of 3.0°, with the aircraft at an altitude of 1,397 feet above ground level (agl) and 2 nautical miles from the runway. However, the threshold height at 82 feet agl was significantly above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been higher than intended at the point of touchdown.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 107 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a significant deviation from the intended touchdown point. The touchdown speed of 146 knots was also faster than desired, and the touchdown rate was firm at -336 feet per minute (fpm). This suggests that the aircraft may have been experiencing a high rate of descent at the point of touchdown, which could have contributed to the deviation from the intended touchdown point.
In addition to the issues with the touchdown, the runway touchdown position was also misaligned by 14.5 meters from the centerline. This suggests that the aircraft may have been slightly off-center during the landing, which could have contributed to the deviation from the intended touchdown point. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 18°C and a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 190°.
The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the tailwind component was 9 knots. This suggests that the wind may have been a contributing factor to the deviation from the intended touchdown point. The total landing distance was 1,680 meters, which is 64% of the runway length. This is a relatively long landing distance, and may indicate that the aircraft was experiencing some difficulties during the landing.
Finally, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 13.2 meters from the centerline. This suggests that the aircraft may have been experiencing some difficulties during the rollout phase of the landing, and may have been slightly off-center as it came to a stop. Overall, while the landing was successful, it was not without its issues, and the aircraft may have benefited from some adjustments to its approach and landing technique.
