Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,552 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,552 m of the 4,258 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 630 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport, the Airbus A320 began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took approximately 4 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. As the aircraft reached the end of runway 30R, it initiated its departure roll, accelerating down the 1,505-meter stretch of the 2,438-meter runway, which accounted for 62% of its length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 151 knots, taking advantage of the 5-knot headwind and minimal crosswind.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, ascending from 1,829 feet above sea level to 36,008 feet, a vertical gain of 34,178 feet, in just 13 minutes. The climb phase covered a distance of 132 nautical miles, taking the aircraft northwest of Minneapolis. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, maintaining an altitude of 36,008 feet for 27 minutes as it covered a distance of 674 nautical miles. The cruise phase was punctuated by a series of descents and level segments, with the aircraft eventually beginning its descent into Calgary International Airport.
As the aircraft approached the airport, it initiated its final descent, reducing its altitude from 35,995 feet to 7,542 feet in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 105 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a short level segment, cruising at 7,007 feet for 2 minutes as it covered 5 nautical miles. The final descent phase saw the aircraft reduce its altitude from 7,007 feet to 4,901 feet in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. The aircraft then lined up for its final approach to runway 35R, touching down 212 meters beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 136 knots. The total landing distance was 1,470 meters, accounting for 34% of the 4,265-meter runway. Following touchdown, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took approximately 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 933 nautical miles, with the aircraft consuming 5,876 kilograms of fuel over the course of the 65-minute flight.
The aircraft touched down on runway 35R at CYYC Calgary International Airport, a 4,265-meter-long asphalt surface, after a final approach from the south. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a good threshold height achieved. However, the threshold speed was above the target, reaching 146 knots, which may have been a result of the 24-knot headwind. The aircraft touched down 212 meters beyond the touchdown zone, at a speed of 136 knots, which was slightly faster than desired.
The touchdown characteristics were fair, with a touchdown rate of -280 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned, deviating 6.2 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 13 degrees Celsius and a 24-knot headwind, may have contributed to the slightly faster touchdown speed and the deviation from the centerline. The crosswind component was minimal, at 4 knots.
The aircraft's rollout was well-managed, with very good alignment on the runway. The total landing distance was 1,470 meters, which represented 34% of the runway length. Overall, the landing performance was satisfactory, with a score of 92.0%. While there were some minor deviations from the desired parameters, the aircraft's touchdown and rollout phases were well-executed, demonstrating good control and handling.
