MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,678 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,678 ft of the 12,040 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,370 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 10 at KHDN Yampa Valley Airport, a small airport located in Hayden, Colorado, United States. The takeoff distance was 4,350 feet, which accounted for 46% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 133 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 37°F and a wind speed of 3 knots at 99°. The crosswind was 1 knot, while the headwind was 3 knots. After departing from KHDN, the aircraft began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile southeast of the airport. The climb took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 31 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from 7,689 feet above sea level to 21,217 feet above sea level, an increase of 13,528 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 15 miles east of 81CO Mesa 1 Airport in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. This phase lasted for 5 minutes and covered a distance of 38 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 5 miles west of Estes Park, Colorado. The descent took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 51 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from 21,184 feet above sea level to 6,636 feet above sea level, a decrease of 14,547 feet.
As the aircraft approached its destination, KDEN Denver International Airport, it began its final approach to runway 16L from the north. The aircraft was heading 181.0° at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,274 feet above ground level. The landing took place on a runway with a length of 12,040 feet, and the threshold height was slightly above the target at 59 feet above ground level. The threshold speed was also slightly above the target at 136 knots.
The touchdown point was 994 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 129 knots, which was a little fast. However, the touchdown rate was excellent at -84 feet per minute. Unfortunately, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 27 feet from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 54°F and a wind speed of 3 knots at 270°, with a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 0 knots.
The total landing distance was 5,402 feet, which accounted for 45% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 65 feet from the centreline. After landing, the aircraft took 9 minutes to taxi to the parking from the runway, covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 129 nautical miles, and the flight took 43 minutes, using 3,224 pounds of fuel.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at KDEN Denver International Airport on runway 16L. The final approach was initiated from the north, heading 181.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,274 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's performance during the landing was evaluated, and it scored 84.5%.
The aircraft's approach to the runway was slightly above the target threshold height at 59 feet agl, and the threshold speed was also slightly above the target at 136 knots. The touchdown point was located 994 feet beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 129 knots was a little fast, but the touchdown rate of -84 feet per minute (fpm) was excellent.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 54°F and a wind speed of 3 knots from 270°. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was negligible at 0 knots. The aircraft's performance was not significantly affected by the wind conditions.
The total landing distance of 5,402 feet was 45% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. However, the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 65 feet from the centerline, indicating a slight deviation from the intended path. This deviation may have been caused by the aircraft's speed or the pilot's control inputs during the rollout phase.
Overall, the Boeing 737-700 aircraft demonstrated a good performance during the landing at KDEN Denver International Airport, with a score of 84.5%. While there were some minor deviations from the intended landing spot and speed, the aircraft's touchdown rate and landing distance were excellent.
