Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 6,573 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,980 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 07 at the Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport in Belize City, Belize. The takeoff distance was 4,337 feet, which accounted for 61% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 148 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 84 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 75 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it began to ascend from an initial altitude of 1,029 feet above sea level to a maximum altitude of 37,055 feet above sea level, an increase of 36,025 feet in just 20 minutes. This climb phase covered a distance of 123 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise phase started 16 miles southwest of Jose Maria Morelos in Mexico and lasted for 36 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 259 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another climb phase, this time from an altitude of 37,110 feet above sea level to 38,094 feet above sea level, an increase of 984 feet in just 2 minutes. This climb phase covered a distance of 12 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise phase that followed started at a location with coordinates 23.6647639 latitude and -90.9328178 longitude and lasted for 45 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 315 nautical miles.
As the aircraft began its descent towards its destination, it started from an altitude of 38,128 feet above sea level and descended to 3,722 feet above sea level, a decrease of 34,405 feet in 21 minutes. This descent phase covered a distance of 114 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise phase that followed started 1 mile southeast of Channelview, Texas, and lasted for 10 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 23 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another descent phase, this time from an altitude of 2,696 feet above sea level to 2,122 feet above sea level, a decrease of 574 feet in just 2 minutes. This descent phase covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise phase that followed started 5 miles north of Hilshire Village, Texas, and lasted for 6 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 12 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 13R at William P Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas, was made from the northwest, with the aircraft heading 134.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,269 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on the runway, which had a length of 6,573 feet. The threshold speed was slightly above the target speed, and the touchdown point was 615 feet beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was a little fast at 123 knots, but the touchdown rate was good at -153 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 17 feet. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 75 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 150 degrees. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 4 knots. The total landing distance was 3,832 feet, which accounted for 58% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at KHOU William P Hobby Airport, with a final approach score of 97.0%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the northwest, heading 134.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,269 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was executed on runway 13R, which has a length of 6,573 feet.
The threshold height was reported as good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 132 kt. The touchdown point was located 615 feet beyond the touchdown zone, indicating that the aircraft touched down slightly further down the runway than intended. The touchdown speed of 123 kt was also a little faster than desired, but the touchdown rate of -153 feet per minute (fpm) was considered good.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 17 feet, which may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 75°F and a wind speed of 4 kt from 150°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 kt, while the headwind component was 4 kt.
The total landing distance was 3,832 feet, which accounted for 58% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down and come to a stop within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was reported as very good, suggesting that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable and controlled descent during the landing roll. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft touching down safely and coming to a stop within a reasonable distance.
