MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Speed on the slow side
Between four hundred and a thousand feet you're heavy, close to the ground and still carrying flap, and speed is the margin holding all three apart. Slow here doesn't feel like anything — the aeroplane climbs, the nose is up, nothing complains — right up until a turn, a gust or a bank tightens the wing's job and the margin is already gone. The fix is rarely "fly faster", it's lowering the nose a degree and letting the speed build before the next thing you do. Pitch buys altitude, speed buys options, and at this height options are the scarcer of the two.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,863 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,863 m of the 3,357 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 632 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from LaGuardia Airport's runway 13, the Airbus A321 began its journey with a taxiing period of 7 minutes, covering 2 nautical miles to reach the runway. At 19°C and with a moderate headwind of 10 kt, the aircraft took off, utilizing 66% of the 1,416-meter runway to achieve liftoff at 151 kt. The initial climb phase commenced overhead East Elmhurst, New York, where the aircraft ascended from 972 feet above sea level to 36,007 feet, a vertical increase of 35,035 feet, in 15 minutes and covering 132 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, maintaining an altitude of 36,007 feet, as it traversed 683 nautical miles in 29 minutes, passing overhead Cohen Airport in Oxford, Maryland. The descent phase began 1 mile west of Brooker, Florida, where the aircraft descended from 35,968 feet to 3,044 feet, a decrease of 32,924 feet, in 12 minutes and covering 130 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a brief level cruise phase, lasting 3 minutes, as it covered 13 nautical miles overhead Apollo Beach, Florida. The final descent phase started 2 miles southwest of MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, where the aircraft descended from 2,974 feet to 1,298 feet, a decrease of 1,676 feet, in 2 minutes and covering 6 nautical miles.
The Airbus A321 then began its final approach to runway 01L at Tampa International Airport, descending from 1,276 feet above ground level, heading 2.0°, at a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The aircraft landed on the 3,365-meter runway, with a touchdown point 213 meters beyond the touchdown zone, at a speed of 132 kt. The touchdown rate was smooth at -149 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.9 meters from the centerline. The total landing distance was 1,779 meters, accounting for 53% of the runway. Following a taxiing period of 1 minute, covering less than 1 nautical mile, the aircraft arrived at the parking area, having completed a total flight distance of 972 nautical miles, using 6,611 kilograms of fuel, and taking 71 minutes to complete the journey.
The final approach to runway 01L at KTPA Tampa International Airport from the south was executed with a heading of 2.0° at 4 nm and 1,276 ft above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a good threshold height achieved. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 141 kt, indicating a slight deviation from the optimal landing speed.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 213 m beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 132 kt, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was smooth at -149 fpm, indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.9 m from the centreline, which may have been due to the crosswind component of 8 kt. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 27 °C and a wind of 8 kt at 90°, contributed to the slight deviations from the optimal landing parameters.
The total landing distance of 1,779 m was 53% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, with the aircraft maintaining a consistent path along the centreline. Overall, the landing was scored 96.9%, reflecting the satisfactory approach quality, smooth touchdown, and good rollout alignment, despite the slight deviations from the optimal landing parameters.
