MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 305 m and 152 m above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,737 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 509 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 27 at EGGD Bristol Airport. The takeoff distance was 976 meters, which accounted for 52% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 166 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 25 knots from a direction of 270 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 25 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, which started overhead EGGD Bristol Airport and continued to an altitude of 25,648 feet above sea level. This climb phase covered a distance of 39 nautical miles and took 12 minutes to complete, with the aircraft ascending by 24,009 feet.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile south east of Talgarth in Wales. This cruise phase lasted for 25 minutes and covered a distance of 137 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 3 miles east of Douglas on the Isle of Man. The descent phase covered a distance of 66 nautical miles and took 16 minutes to complete, with the aircraft descending by 23,308 feet from an altitude of 25,260 feet above sea level to 1,952 feet above sea level.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 7 miles north east of Larne in Northern Ireland. This cruise phase lasted for 6 minutes and covered a distance of 17 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 22 at EGAC George Best Belfast City Airport was made from the north east, with the aircraft heading 215.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,253 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 22 was successful, with the touchdown point being 88 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 134 knots, which was slightly above the target speed. The touchdown rate was smooth at -134 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 11 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 14 knots from a direction of 240 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 6 knots and a headwind of 13 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,222 meters, which accounted for 70% of the runway. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.6 meters from the centerline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 266 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 68 minutes. The aircraft used 3,272 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at EGAC George Best Belfast City Airport, achieving a score of 96.8%. The final approach to runway 22 was initiated from the north east, heading 215.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,253 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway, with the threshold height being satisfactory. However, the threshold speed was significantly above the target speed, reaching 145 knots. This indicates that the aircraft was likely descending at a faster rate than intended, which may have contributed to the subsequent touchdown speed being a little fast at 134 knots.
The touchdown point was located 88 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown rate was smooth, with a descent rate of -134 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 11°C, with a wind speed of 14 knots from a direction of 240°. This resulted in a crosswind component of 6 knots and a headwind component of 13 knots. The total landing distance was 1,222 meters, which represents approximately 70% of the runway length.
During the rollout phase, the aircraft's alignment with the runway centerline was slightly off by 8.6 meters. This deviation may have been due to the aircraft's momentum and the effects of the crosswind and headwind components. Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft coming to a stop within a reasonable distance from the runway threshold.
