Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,202 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 506 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The Airbus A320 then departed from runway 24 at LIRN Naples International Airport, with a takeoff distance of 387 meters, which accounted for 19% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 75 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 22°C, with a wind speed of 8 knots at an angle of 82°. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a tailwind of 7 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting overhead Vicaria in Campania, Italy, and ascending from 1,160 feet above sea level to 35,626 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,466 feet in 21 minutes, covering a distance of 121 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 2 miles south east of Metaponto in Basilicata, Italy, and lasting 32 minutes, covering a distance of 262 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 3 miles south east of Patra in Western Greece, Greece, and descending from 35,487 feet above sea level to 4,970 feet above sea level, a decrease of 30,517 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 83 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 3 miles south west of Methana in Attica, Greece, and lasting only 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another descent, starting 3 miles north east of Methana, and descending from 4,960 feet above sea level to 3,166 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,794 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 7 miles south west of Vouliagmeni in Attica, Greece, and lasting 5 minutes, covering a distance of 13 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 03L at LGAV Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, coming in from the south west at a heading of 36.0°, at an altitude of 1,260 feet above ground level, and at a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing was made on runway 03L, which had a length of 3,202 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 127 knots. The touchdown point was 83 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 118 knots, which was good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -261 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.2 meters from the centreline.
The total landing distance was 1,047 meters, which accounted for 33% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 11.5 meters from the centreline. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, a process that took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 505 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 94 minutes. The aircraft used 3,547 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed on runway 03L at LGAV Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, achieving a score of 95.1%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 36.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,260 feet above ground level.
The landing was executed with good threshold height and threshold speed, reaching 127 knots. The touchdown point was 83 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is slightly off-center but still within acceptable limits. The touchdown speed of 118 knots was also good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the touchdown rate of -261 feet per minute was only fair, suggesting that the aircraft could have been brought down more gently.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.2 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were moderate, with a temperature of 21°C and a wind speed of 21 knots from a direction of 60°. This resulted in a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 19 knots, which may have affected the aircraft's alignment during landing.
The total landing distance was 1,047 meters, which is 33% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was brought down quickly and efficiently. However, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 11.5 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to the same factors that affected the touchdown position.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some minor issues with alignment and touchdown rate. These can be addressed through further training and practice to improve the aircraft's performance and safety.
