MY FS FLIGHTS

Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: speed above the reference speed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,806 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,806 m of the 3,894 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 483 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Stuttgart Airport, the Airbus A320 began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took approximately 2 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. As the aircraft lined up on runway 25, the crew initiated the departure roll, and the aircraft lifted off the ground after a takeoff distance of 1,707 meters, which accounted for 56% of the available runway length. The liftoff speed was recorded at 151 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 6°C, with a gentle wind blowing at 8 knots from a direction of 330°.
As the aircraft climbed to its initial cruising altitude, it began its ascent from 2,458 feet above sea level, eventually reaching a height of 36,432 feet, an increase of 33,974 feet in just 19 minutes. The enroute climb phase covered a distance of 121 nautical miles, and the aircraft then transitioned into a level cruise, maintaining a steady altitude for 29 minutes as it covered a further 215 nautical miles. The crew initiated the enroute descent phase from a height of 36,975 feet, gradually reducing the altitude to 2,499 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 108 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a brief level cruise phase, lasting just 2 minutes, before beginning its final descent into Rome–Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport.
The Airbus A320 touched down on runway 16L at LIRF, with a touchdown point located 69 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was recorded at 132 knots, which was slightly above the recommended threshold speed. The aircraft's touchdown rate was firm, at -344 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.1 meters from the centerline. The total landing distance was 1,728 meters, accounting for 44% of the available runway length. Following a brief taxiing period, the aircraft came to a stop, having covered a total distance of 465 nautical miles and consuming 2,921 kilograms of fuel during the flight, which lasted a total of 80 minutes.
The aircraft, an Airbus A320, commenced its final approach to runway 16L at LIRF Rome–Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport from the north, aligning with the runway at a heading of 163.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,292 feet above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 136 knots, well within the acceptable range.
As the aircraft touched down on the runway, it was noted that the touchdown point was 69 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed of 132 knots was slightly above the recommended value. However, the touchdown rate of -344 feet per minute was firm, indicating a controlled descent. Unfortunately, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.1 meters from the centreline, which could have been a result of the crosswind component of 4 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,728 meters was 44% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing. During the rollout phase, the aircraft's alignment was slightly off-centre, deviating by 7.8 meters from the centreline. Despite these minor deviations, the overall performance of the landing was satisfactory, earning a score of 95.3%. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15°C and a light wind of 6 knots from 210°, did not pose any significant challenges to the landing.
