Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,852 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,852 m of the 2,996 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 632 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 22 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 36L at EHAM Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The takeoff distance was 1,162 meters, which was 33% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 167 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 2 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 16 knots from a direction of 90 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 16 knots and a headwind of 1 knot. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile east of Vijfhuizen in the province of Noord-Holland, the Netherlands. The climb took 15 minutes and covered a distance of 93 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,049 feet above sea level to 33,534 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,484 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started overhead Uithuizen in the province of Groningen, the Netherlands. This phase lasted for 16 minutes and covered a distance of 116 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 1 mile south of Achtrup in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The descent took 29 minutes and covered a distance of 129 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 33,429 feet above sea level to 1,304 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,125 feet.
The final approach to runway 04L at EKCH Copenhagen Kastrup Airport was made from the southwest, heading 41.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,283 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 04L, which had a length of 2,996 meters. The threshold height at 72 feet above ground level was well above the target, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 142 knots.
The touchdown point was 211 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 141 knots, which was fast. The touchdown rate was smooth at -150 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.4 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -5 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 20 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 9 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,766 meters, which was 59% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.4 meters from the centerline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 350 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 91 minutes. The aircraft used 2,821 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed on runway 04L at EKCH Copenhagen Kastrup Airport, achieving an overall score of 87.5%. The final approach was initiated from the southwest, heading 41.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,283 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a slightly above-target threshold speed of 142 knots, which is a relatively high speed for a landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 211 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 141 knots was also slightly above the target, resulting in a relatively fast touchdown. However, the touchdown rate was smooth, with a descent rate of -150 feet per minute (fpm). The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.4 meters from the centerline, which may have contributed to the deviation from the touchdown zone.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -5°C and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 20°. The crosswind component was relatively low at 4 knots, while the headwind component was 9 knots. These conditions may have affected the aircraft's approach and landing performance.
The total landing distance was 1,766 meters, which is 59% of the runway length. This is a relatively long landing distance, indicating that the aircraft may have been slowed down more than necessary during the approach. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 8.4 meters from the centerline, which may have resulted from the aircraft's initial touchdown position.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some deviations from the target parameters. The aircraft's high touchdown speed and long landing distance may indicate that the pilots could have managed the approach and landing more efficiently. However, the smooth touchdown rate and relatively low crosswind component suggest that the pilots handled the aircraft well in challenging weather conditions.
