Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,234 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,234 m of the 3,657 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,125 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The 777-200LR taxied from the parking area to runway 30 at OMDW Al Maktoum International Airport in 4 minutes, covering approximately 1 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 30, the aircraft accelerated over a takeoff distance of 1,279 m, representing 28 % of the runway, and lifted off at 170 kt; ambient temperature was 37 °C with wind 8 kt from 310°, a 1 kt cross-wind component and an 8 kt head-wind.
The initial climb commenced 1 mile south-west of OMDW, climbing from 1,043 ft asl to 35,000 ft asl, an increase of 33,957 ft achieved in 20 minutes while covering 139 nm.

A further climb began 21 miles south-west of Saiha (Mizoram, India), climbing from 37,002 ft asl to 38,990 ft asl, an increase of 1,988 ft in 3 minutes over 24 nm.
Cruise continued 6 miles south-east of Saiha for 202 minutes, during which 1,582 nm were covered.
Descent started 10 miles south-east of RCQC Penghu Magong Airport Huxi (Taiwan), descending from 38,992 ft asl to 1,338 ft asl, a loss of 37,654 ft in 22 minutes while traveling 123 nm.
The final approach to runway 05L at RCTP Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport was executed from the south-west on a heading of 49.0°, at 4 nm and 1,245 ft agl.
Landing on runway 05L, whose length is 3,657 m, occurred with a threshold height of 58 ft agl slightly above target and a threshold speed of 150 kt slightly above target; touchdown was 713 m beyond the touchdown zone, at 130 kt, with a touchdown rate of minus 175 fpm and very good alignment. Local weather reported a temperature of 29 °C, wind 7 kt from 10°, a 4 kt cross-wind and a 5 kt head-wind.
The aircraft rolled out a total landing distance of 2,157 m, representing 59 % of the runway, and the rollout alignment was offset by 8.8 m from the centreline.
Taxi-in to the parking area required 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 3,857 nm, took 506, and consumed 57,536 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A330-900 entered final approach to runway 25L at EDDF Frankfurt Airport from the east on a heading of 249.0° at 4 nm and 1,217 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits.
At threshold the height was good and the threshold speed was recorded as 140 kt, which the report rates as good.
Touchdown occurred 301 m beyond the touchdown zone with a speed of 132 kt rated good, a vertical rate of minus 71 fpm rated excellent, and runway touchdown alignment described as very good. Total landing distance was 1,838 m, representing 46 % of the 3,986 m runway.
Runway rollout alignment was reported as very good.
With a final score of 97.5 % the landing was strong; concentrate on reducing the slight overshoot beyond the touchdown zone to bring the touchdown point fully inside the zone while maintaining the already excellent flare and alignment.
