Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,538 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,538 m of the 2,944 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 622 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A321, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Munich Airport (EDDM). This process took approximately 9 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 26R, with the aircraft lifting off after a takeoff distance of 1,235 meters, which accounted for 31% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 152 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 20°C temperature and a wind of 10 knots at 290°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 9 knots. The enroute climb started approximately 1 mile west of the airport and continued to an altitude of 37,433 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,937 feet from the initial altitude of 2,495 feet. This climb phase took 23 minutes and covered a distance of 137 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started approximately 1 mile northeast of Doschnitz, Germany. This phase lasted for 56 minutes and covered a distance of 437 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting approximately 1 mile east of Roennaeng, Sweden. The descent took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 121 nautical miles, with the aircraft decreasing its altitude from 36,913 feet to 8,531 feet.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started approximately 6 miles northeast of Bjorkelangen, Norway. This phase lasted for only 2 minutes and covered a distance of 8 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent again, starting approximately 4 miles east of Fjellfoten, Norway. The descent took 3 minutes and covered a distance of 15 nautical miles, with the aircraft decreasing its altitude from 8,521 feet to 5,415 feet.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started approximately 4 miles southwest of Sand, Norway. This phase lasted for 3 minutes and covered a distance of 8 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting overhead Minnesund, Norway. The descent took 3 minutes and covered a distance of 8 nautical miles, with the aircraft decreasing its altitude from 4,456 feet to 1,976 feet.
The final approach to runway 19L at Oslo Airport, Gardermoen (ENGM) was made from the north, with the aircraft heading 196.0° at an altitude of 1,296 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway threshold. The landing took place on a runway length of 2,944 meters, with the threshold height being slightly above the target height of 57 feet above ground level. The threshold speed was also well above the target speed, at 147 knots.
The touchdown point was 196 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with the touchdown speed being 137 knots, which was slightly fast. However, the touchdown rate was good at -191 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 3.5 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 12°C temperature and a wind of 13 knots at 180°, with a crosswind component of 4 knots and a headwind component of 13 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,447 meters, which accounted for 49% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took approximately 13 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 741 nautical miles, with the flight taking 128 minutes and using 5,777 kilograms of
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed on runway 19L at ENGM Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, with a score of 92.5%. The final approach was initiated from the north, heading 196.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,296 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft was on a steady course for a landing on the designated runway, which has a length of 2,944 meters.
Upon reaching the threshold, the aircraft's height was slightly above the target, indicating a minor deviation from the ideal approach path. However, the threshold speed was well above the target at 147 knots, suggesting that the aircraft was descending at a faster rate than intended. This could be attributed to the aircraft's configuration or the pilot's decision to descend more aggressively.
The touchdown point was located 196 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight over-shooting of the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 137 knots was also a little fast, suggesting that the aircraft may have been descending too quickly. Fortunately, the touchdown rate was good at -191 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a controlled descent.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.5 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a minor deviation in the aircraft's alignment during the final approach. The local weather conditions were relatively calm, with a temperature of 12°C and a wind speed of 13 knots at 180°. The crosswind component was minimal at 4 knots, while the headwind component was 13 knots, which may have contributed to the aircraft's slightly fast touchdown speed.
The total landing distance was 1,447 meters, which is 49% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down and come to a stop within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable and aligned path during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some minor deviations from the ideal approach path and touchdown conditions. The pilots' skills and experience were able to mitigate these deviations, resulting in a safe and controlled landing.
