Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,923 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,923 m of the 3,191 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 917 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-200ER, then departed from runway 30R at Dubai International Airport (OMDB). The takeoff distance was 59 meters, which is 2% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 169 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 4 knots at a direction of 10 degrees. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northwest of OMDB, and climbed from an altitude of 1,049 feet above sea level to 39,179 feet above sea level, an increase of 38,131 feet, in 23 minutes and covering a distance of 153 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 57 miles north of Das Island Airport (OMAS) and lasted for 146 minutes, covering a distance of 1,121 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time starting 10 miles north of Susehri, and climbed from 37,551 feet above sea level to 39,357 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,805 feet, in just 3 minutes and covering a distance of 28 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 10 miles west of Mesudiye and lasted for 187 minutes, covering a distance of 1,402 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 3 miles north of Ascheberg, and descended from 39,512 feet above sea level to 1,243 feet above sea level, a decrease of 38,270 feet, in 29 minutes and covering a distance of 113 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 06 at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (EHAM) was made from the southwest, heading 58.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,243 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 06, which has a length of 3,191 meters. The threshold height at 70 feet above ground level was above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 136 knots.
The touchdown point was 462 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 124 knots, which was good. However, the touchdown rate was very hard at -598 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 15.5 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 4 knots at a direction of 10 degrees, with a crosswind component of 3 knots and a headwind component of 3 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,804 meters, which is 57% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 14.4 meters from the centerline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 6 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 2,828 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 407 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 39,550 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 777-200ER aircraft successfully landed at EHAM Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, but with some notable issues. The final approach to runway 06 was initiated from the south west, heading 58.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,243 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's performance during the approach was satisfactory, with a threshold speed of 136 knots, which is within the acceptable range.
However, the touchdown point was 462 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 124 knots was also within the acceptable range, but the touchdown rate was quite hard, at -598 feet per minute (fpm). This could potentially be a concern for the aircraft's safety and the comfort of its passengers.
The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 15.5 meters from the centerline, which could pose a risk to the aircraft's stability and control during the landing roll. Additionally, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 14.4 meters from the centerline, which could further exacerbate the issue.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 4 knots at 10°. The crosswind and headwind components were both 3 knots, which is relatively minimal. Despite these favorable weather conditions, the aircraft's landing performance was not entirely satisfactory.
Overall, the Boeing 777-200ER aircraft's landing at EHAM Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was marked by some notable issues, including a hard touchdown rate and significant misalignment of the runway touchdown position and rollout alignment. While the aircraft's performance during the approach was satisfactory, the landing itself could have been smoother and more controlled.
