Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,883 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 541 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Ajaccio-Napoléon Bonaparte Airport, taking 10 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 20, with the aircraft lifting off after a takeoff distance of 1,440 meters, which was 66% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 156 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 18°C, with a wind speed of 11 knots blowing from 229°. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 10 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile southwest of the airport and rising from an altitude of 1,020 feet above sea level to 29,073 feet above sea level, an increase of 28,053 feet in 17 minutes, covering a distance of 113 nautical miles.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 9 miles southeast of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and lasting 16 minutes, covering a distance of 252 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 2 miles east of Liernais and descending from 29,296 feet above sea level to 3,165 feet above sea level, a decrease of 26,130 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 113 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 1 mile west of Gretz-Armainvilliers and lasting 3 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 25 at Paris-Orly Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 255.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,285 feet above ground level.
The landing took place on runway 25, which was 2,883 meters long. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 138 knots. However, the touchdown point was 124 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 130 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -205 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.2 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 12°C, with a wind speed of 15 knots blowing from 340°. This resulted in a crosswind of 15 knots and a headwind of 1 knot. The total landing distance was 1,011 meters, which was 35% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 16.4 meters from the centerline.
The flight ended with the aircraft taxiing to the parking area from the runway, taking 2 minutes and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 495 nautical miles, taking 63 minutes, and the aircraft used 4,241 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at LFPO Paris-Orly Airport, achieving a score of 93.3%. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 255.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,285 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot executed a precise final approach, touching down on runway 25, which has a length of 2,883 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, and the threshold speed was maintained at 138 knots, indicating a well-executed landing. However, the touchdown point was 124 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, suggesting a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 130 knots was slightly faster than ideal, which may have contributed to the deviation.
The touchdown rate of -205 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, indicating a relatively smooth landing. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.2 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to the crosswind or pilot error.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 12°C and a wind speed of 15 knots from 340°. This resulted in a crosswind of 15 knots and a headwind of 1 knot. The pilots successfully managed the crosswind, but the slight misalignment of the runway touchdown position may have been a consequence of the challenging weather conditions.
The total landing distance was 1,011 meters, which is 35% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating a well-executed landing. However, the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 16.4 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to the pilot's difficulty in maintaining alignment during the rollout phase.
Overall, the Airbus A320 landing at LFPO Paris-Orly Airport was satisfactory, with a score of 93.3%. While there were some minor deviations from the ideal landing, the pilots successfully managed the challenging weather conditions and executed a relatively smooth landing.
