Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 910 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 910 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 61 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the departure roll from runway 22 at KAVX Catalina Airport. The aircraft, Sirius, took off with a takeoff distance of 48 meters, which is 5% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 51 knots, indicating a smooth and efficient takeoff.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 15°C temperature and a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind and headwind, both at 1 knot. The enroute climb started overhead KAVX Catalina Airport Avalon, with the aircraft ascending from 705 meters above sea level to 554 meters above sea level, an increase of 151.8 meters in just 3 minutes. During this climb, the aircraft covered a distance of 1 nautical mile.
The final approach to runway 22 at KAVX Catalina Airport was made from the north-east, with the aircraft heading 231.0° at an altitude of 65.5 meters above ground level and a distance of 1 nautical mile from the runway. The landing was executed with precision, with the touchdown speed being a little below the target at 46 knots. The touchdown distance was also good, at 59 meters, and the touchdown speed was 44 knots, which is considered good. The touchdown rate was perfect at 0.1 meters per second, and the runway touchdown alignment was also perfect.
The total landing distance was 283 meters, which is 31% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway, taking 3 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 2 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 7 minutes. Notably, the aircraft used 0 kilograms of fuel during the flight, indicating an extremely efficient operation. Overall, the flight was executed with precision and control, demonstrating the capabilities of the Sirius aircraft.
The aircraft, identified as Sirius, successfully landed at KAVX Catalina Airport, achieving a remarkable score of 98.3%. The final approach to runway 22 was conducted from the north-east, with a heading of 231.0° at 1 nautical mile and 65.5 meters above ground level (agl). This precise approach set the stage for a smooth landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft demonstrated excellent control, with a threshold speed that was slightly below the target at 46 knots. This slight deviation from the target speed did not impact the overall performance of the landing. The touchdown distance of 59 meters was also within acceptable limits, indicating that the pilot had effectively managed the aircraft's descent and speed.
The touchdown speed of 44 knots was also satisfactory, and the touchdown rate of 0.1 meters per second was perfect, signifying a gentle and controlled touchdown. The runway touchdown alignment was spot on, further emphasizing the pilot's skill and attention to detail.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a gentle wind of 1 knot from 270°. This minimal wind had a negligible impact on the landing, with a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 1 knot. The total landing distance of 283 meters was only 31% of the runway length, indicating that the pilot had effectively managed the aircraft's speed and descent to achieve a short landing distance.
Finally, the runway rollout alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain control of the aircraft during the critical phase of the landing. Overall, the Sirius aircraft's landing at KAVX Catalina Airport was a textbook example of precision and skill, with a score of 98.3% reflecting the pilot's exceptional abilities.
