See Departure Roll
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,602 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,602 m of the 3,242 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 476 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A321 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Düsseldorf Airport, taking 7 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 05R, with a takeoff distance of 424 meters, which was 18% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 128 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of 7°C temperature and a wind speed of 7 knots at 110 degrees. The crosswind was 6 knots, while the headwind was 4 knots. After departing from Düsseldorf Airport, the enroute climb started 1 mile northeast of the airport, with the aircraft climbing from 1,176 feet above sea level to 36,456 feet above sea level, an increase of 35,280 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 113 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began overhead Hammersbach, Germany, and lasted for 42 minutes, covering a distance of 323 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 1 mile east of Stallhof, Austria, descending from 36,896 feet above sea level to 1,708 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,188 feet in 20 minutes, covering a distance of 106 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 04 at Zagreb Franjo Tuđman International Airport was made from the southwest, heading 47.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,342 feet above ground level. The landing took place on a runway length of 3,242 meters, with a good threshold height. The threshold speed was slightly above the target at 137 knots.
The touchdown point was 51 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 126 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -216 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 7°C temperature and a wind speed of 9 knots at 23 degrees, with a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 8 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,512 meters, which was 47% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 550 nautical miles, taking 90 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,882 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A321 successfully landed at LDZA Zagreb Franjo Tuđman International Airport, achieving a score of 99.7%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the southwest, heading 47.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,342 feet above ground level.
The landing was executed on runway 04, which has a length of 3,242 meters. The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 136 kt, coming in at 137 kt.
The touchdown point was 51 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight overcorrection by the pilots. The touchdown speed of 126 kt was also a little fast, which could have contributed to the slightly longer landing distance. The touchdown rate of -216 fpm was considered fair, suggesting that the aircraft was able to slow down relatively quickly after touchdown.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's approach path. However, the runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilots were able to maintain control of the aircraft and align it with the runway centerline after touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 7°C and a wind speed of 9 kt from a direction of 23°. The crosswind component was 3 kt, while the headwind component was 8 kt. The total landing distance was 1,512 meters, which is 47% of the runway length. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft coming to a stop within a reasonable distance from the runway threshold.
