MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,043 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 167 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Rome–Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (LIRF), the Airbus A320 began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took approximately 9 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. Upon reaching runway 25, the aircraft initiated its departure roll, accelerating down the 1,615-meter stretch of the 2,943-meter runway, which accounted for 56% of its length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 158 knots, overcoming the headwind of 7 knots and the crosswind of 4 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from LIRF, it transitioned into an enroute climb, ascending from an initial altitude of 972 feet above sea level to a cruising altitude of 22,896 feet, a vertical gain of 21,924 feet over a distance of 47 nautical miles in 9 minutes. The climb phase was followed by an 8-minute enroute level cruise, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 63 nautical miles. The descent phase began approximately 1 mile east of Ponza, where the aircraft descended from 22,979 feet to 1,682 feet above sea level, a decrease of 21,297 feet over a distance of 116 nautical miles in 24 minutes.
The final approach to runway 24 at Naples International Airport (LIRN) was initiated from the north-east, with the aircraft aligning itself with the runway at an altitude of 1,358 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the threshold. The aircraft touched down on the 2,043-meter runway at a speed of 132 knots, with a touchdown distance of 169 meters and a firm touchdown rate of -349 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also satisfactory. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took approximately 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 236 nautical miles, and the aircraft consumed 2,015 kilograms of fuel during the 52-minute flight.
The aircraft touched down on runway 24 at LIRN Naples International Airport with a firm touchdown rate of -349 fpm, slightly above the optimal range. The touchdown speed of 132 kt was a little fast, but the threshold speed of 133 kt was well managed, indicating a good approach quality. The aircraft maintained perfect runway touchdown alignment, a testament to the pilot's skill and attention to detail.
As the aircraft rolled out, it remained perfectly aligned with the centreline, a result of the precise control maintained during the approach and touchdown phases. The total landing distance of 800 m was 39% of the runway length, a respectable figure considering the firm touchdown rate. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 13 °C and a gentle headwind of 2 kt, contributed to a smooth and controlled rollout.
The overall performance of the landing was impressive, with a score of 97.9%. The approach quality, threshold speed, and touchdown characteristics all contributed to a successful landing. The pilot's ability to maintain perfect runway touchdown alignment and centreline alignment during the rollout phase further enhanced the overall score. The landing was a credit to the pilot's skill and experience, and a testament to the aircraft's capabilities.
