Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 4,476 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the full 4,476 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 758 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a quick taxiing process from the parking area to the runway, taking less than a minute and covering less than a nautical mile. The aircraft, a TBM 930, then departed from runway 26 at KGGW Glasgow Valley County Airport Wokal Field. The takeoff distance was 270 meters, which is 18% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 64 knots, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 8 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 9 knots at 270 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed out of Glasgow, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile north of the airport. The climb took less than a minute and covered 1 nautical mile, with the aircraft rising from 3,164 feet above sea level to 4,138 feet. The enroute level cruise then began 1 mile west of Glasgow and lasted for 14 minutes, covering a distance of 34 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 15 miles east of Malta, Montana. The descent took 2 minutes and covered 7 nautical miles, with the aircraft dropping from 4,212 feet to 3,235 feet. The enroute climb then began again 8 miles east of Malta, with the aircraft rising from 3,219 feet to 3,849 feet in 2 minutes and covering 5 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise then began again 3 miles southeast of Malta and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 5 nautical miles. However, the aircraft then began its final descent, which started 2 miles southwest of Malta. The descent took 2 minutes and covered 5 nautical miles, with the aircraft dropping from 4,146 feet to 2,898 feet.
The final approach to runway 08 at M75 Malta was made from the west, with the aircraft heading 133.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 646 feet above ground level. However, a go-around was initiated at 1,102 feet above ground level. The aircraft then landed on runway 08, which had a length of 1,364 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 80 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 230 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 74 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -262 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.0 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 9 knots at 269 degrees.
The total landing distance was 749 meters, which is 55% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 14.6 meters from the centerline. The taxiing process from the runway to the parking area took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 62 nautical miles, and the flight took 31 minutes, using 104 kilograms of fuel.
The TBM 930 aircraft successfully landed at M75 Malta, achieving a score of 93.0%. The final approach was conducted from the west, heading 133.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 646 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 08, which has a length of 1,364 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, but the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 80 knots. The touchdown distance was good, measuring 230 meters. However, the touchdown speed of 74 knots was a little fast, and the touchdown rate of -262 feet per minute (fpm) was fair. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 4.0 meters.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 5°C and a wind speed of 9 knots from 269°. This resulted in a crosswind of 0 knots and a tailwind of 9 knots. The total landing distance was 749 meters, which is 55% of the runway length.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 14.6 meters. Despite these minor deviations, the overall landing performance of the TBM 930 aircraft was satisfactory, with a score of 93.0%.
