MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,956 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,956 m of the 4,126 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 750 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 17R at KDFW Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. The takeoff distance was 696 meters, which accounted for 17% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 156 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 10 knots at 130 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 6 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, which started overhead KDFW Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. The climb took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 26 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,664 feet above sea level to 22,424 feet above sea level, an increase of 20,759 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which started 1 mile south west of Crowley, Texas. This cruise phase lasted for 7 minutes and covered a distance of 46 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 3 miles south east of Gordon, Texas. The descent took 16 minutes and covered a distance of 77 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from 22,432 feet above sea level to 4,089 feet above sea level, a decrease of 18,342 feet.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, which started 1 mile south west of Hawley, Texas. This cruise phase lasted for 3 minutes and covered a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 16 at KDYS Dyess Air Force Base, approaching from the north at a heading of 171.0 degrees and 3 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 16 at KDYS Dyess Air Force Base was characterized by a threshold speed that was slightly above the target at 131 knots. The touchdown point was 330 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 125 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -232 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 13.1 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 27 knots at 160 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 27 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,871 meters, which accounted for 45% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 12.6 meters from the centerline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 163 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 49 minutes. The aircraft used 1,854 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at Dyess Air Force Base, with a score of 86.8%. The final approach to runway 16 was initiated from the north, heading 171.0° at a distance of 3 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,112 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on the runway, which has a length of 4,126 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 131 knots. The touchdown point was located 330 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating that the aircraft landed slightly further down the runway than intended. The touchdown speed of 125 knots was a little faster than desired, and the touchdown rate of -232 feet per minute was considered fair.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 13.1 meters from the centerline, which may have contributed to the slightly longer landing distance. The local weather conditions at the time of landing included a temperature of 24°C, a wind speed of 27 knots from 160°, resulting in a 4-knot crosswind and a 27-knot headwind.
The total landing distance was 1,871 meters, which accounts for 45% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 12.6 meters from the centerline. Overall, while the landing was not perfect, the aircraft was able to safely touch down on the runway, and the pilot's skills and experience were able to mitigate some of the minor issues that arose during the landing.
