Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: speed above the reference speed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,360 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 452 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 17 at ENBR Bergen Airport, Flesland, with a takeoff distance of 797 meters, which accounted for 33% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 138 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of -1 °C, with a wind speed of 8 knots at a direction of 120 °. This resulted in a crosswind of 6 knots and a headwind of 5 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile south of Flesland, and climbed from an altitude of 1,199 feet above sea level to 40,013 feet above sea level, an increase of 38,814 feet, in 18 minutes and covering a distance of 115 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 14 miles southeast of ENSF Statfjord A Helipad Stryn, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 32 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 10 miles southwest of ENLB Bjorli Airfield Bismo, and descended from an altitude of 40,001 feet above sea level to 3,237 feet above sea level, a decrease of 36,764 feet, in 19 minutes and covering a distance of 113 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 3 miles southeast of Trondheim, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 09 at ENVA Trondheim Airport, Værnes, was made from the west, with a heading of 90.0 °, at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,322 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 09 at ENVA Trondheim Airport, Værnes, was successful, with a runway length of 2,360 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 116 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 450 meters, and the touchdown speed at 106 knots was also good. The touchdown rate was good at -198 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 22.9 meters from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -9 °C, with a wind speed of 6 knots at a direction of 90 °. This resulted in a crosswind of 0 knots and a headwind of 6 knots. The total landing distance was 916 meters, which accounted for 39% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 24.1 meters from the centreline.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 278 nautical miles, taking a total of 55 minutes, and the aircraft used 812 kilograms of fuel.
Aircraft C750 successfully landed at ENVA Trondheim Airport, Værnes, with a score of 86.3%. The final approach was initiated from the west, heading 90.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,322 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft successfully touched down on runway 09, which has a length of 2,360 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, and the threshold speed was achieved at 116 knots. The touchdown distance was also within acceptable limits at 450 meters. The touchdown speed of 106 knots was good, and the touchdown rate of -198 feet per minute (fpm) was also satisfactory. However, there were some issues with the alignment of the aircraft during the landing.
The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 22.9 meters from the centerline, which could have been a concern for the safety of the aircraft and the passengers on board. Additionally, the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 24.1 meters from the centerline, which could have led to further complications during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were quite cold, with a temperature of -9°C. The wind was blowing at 6 knots from a direction of 90°, resulting in a headwind of 6 knots. There was no crosswind, which made the landing slightly easier. The total landing distance was 916 meters, which is 39% of the runway length. Overall, while there were some issues with the alignment of the aircraft during the landing, the pilot was able to successfully bring the aircraft to a stop within a reasonable distance.
