Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,993 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 152 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A319 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Cologne Bonn Airport, taking approximately 4 minutes to cover less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 14L, with a takeoff distance of 1,271 meters, which is 33% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 173 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 6°C temperature and 8-knot headwind at 129°. The enroute climb started 1 mile northwest of Lohmar, Germany, and reached an altitude of 30,088 feet above sea level in 15 minutes, covering 84 nautical miles. The climb was from an initial altitude of 1,554 feet above sea level, resulting in an increase of 28,535 feet.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, starting 2 miles north of Warburg, Germany. This phase lasted for 15 minutes and covered 104 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from 29,314 feet above sea level, starting overhead Hemstedt, Germany. The descent took 22 minutes to cover 99 nautical miles, resulting in a decrease of 25,451 feet in altitude.
The aircraft entered another level cruise phase, this time starting 1 mile northeast of Muencheberg, Germany. This phase lasted for 4 minutes and covered 14 nautical miles. The final descent phase began 1 mile northwest of Gruenheide, Germany, and took 3 minutes to cover 6 nautical miles, resulting in a decrease of 2,016 feet in altitude.
The final approach to runway 25R at Berlin Brandenburg Airport was made from the east, heading 249.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,279 feet above ground level. The landing took place on a runway length of 2,993 meters, with a threshold speed of 131 knots and a touchdown speed of 125 knots. The touchdown distance was 151 meters, and the touchdown rate was heavy at -695 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.6 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 4°C temperature and 4-knot headwind at 219°. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the headwind was 3 knots. The total landing distance was 703 meters, which is 23% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The flight concluded with the aircraft taxiing to the parking area from the runway, taking approximately 1 minute to cover less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 314 nautical miles, taking 67 minutes, and the aircraft used 2,706 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed at EDDB Berlin Brandenburg Airport on runway 25R, achieving a score of 92.6%. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 249.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,279 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a good threshold height, indicating that the pilots maintained a suitable altitude prior to touchdown.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was recorded at 131 knots, which is within the acceptable range. However, the touchdown speed of 125 knots was slightly faster than desired, suggesting that the pilots may have been able to maintain a more optimal speed during the landing. The touchdown distance of 151 meters was also within the acceptable range, indicating that the pilots were able to control the aircraft's descent effectively.
Despite the good touchdown speed and distance, the touchdown rate was heavy at -695 feet per minute (fpm), which may indicate that the pilots could have managed the aircraft's descent more smoothly. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.6 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilots' alignment during the final approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 4°C and a wind speed of 4 knots from 219°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots. These conditions were relatively calm, which may have contributed to the successful landing.
The total landing distance of 703 meters was 23% of the runway length, indicating that the pilots were able to bring the aircraft to a stop within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilots maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase and were able to align the aircraft with the centerline of the runway.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft achieving a good score of 92.6%. However, there were some areas for improvement, including the slightly fast touchdown speed and heavy touchdown rate, as well as the slight misalignment of the runway touchdown position.
