MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 6,176 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 6,176 ft of the 12,289 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,060 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 30L at the Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (KMSP). The takeoff distance was 3,649 feet, which accounted for 37% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 151 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 72°F and winds blowing at 8 knots from a direction of 325°. The crosswind was 3 knots, while the headwind was 7 knots. The enroute climb began approximately 1 mile northeast of Richfield, Minnesota, and involved a significant increase in altitude from 1,918 feet above sea level to 38,197 feet above sea level, a rise of 36,278 feet in 22 minutes and covering a distance of 148 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 6 miles southeast of Albert City, Iowa, and lasted for 40 minutes. During this period, the aircraft covered a distance of 299 nautical miles. The enroute descent phase began 1 mile southeast of the 53KS Weaver Ranch Airport in Hesston, Kansas, and involved a decrease in altitude from 37,776 feet above sea level to 36,228 feet above sea level, a drop of 1,548 feet in 2 minutes and covering a distance of 12 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started overhead Bentley, Kansas, and lasted for 41 minutes. During this period, the aircraft covered a distance of 318 nautical miles. The enroute descent phase began overhead the 6TX8 Hess Airport in Mansfield, Texas, and involved a significant decrease in altitude from 35,981 feet above sea level to 1,832 feet above sea level, a drop of 34,149 feet in 29 minutes and covering a distance of 140 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its final approach to runway 18R at the Austin Bergstrom International Airport (KAUS) from the north, heading 179.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,319 feet above ground level. The landing took place on runway 18R, which had a length of 12,289 feet. The threshold height was significantly above the target, while the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 150 knots.
The touchdown point was 685 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 148 knots, which was considered fast. The touchdown rate was firm at -318 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 93°F and winds blowing at 6 knots from a direction of 150°. The crosswind was 3 knots, while the headwind was 5 knots.
The total landing distance was 5,901 feet, which accounted for 48% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 927 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 150 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 13,012 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at KAUS Austin Bergstrom International Airport, achieving an overall score of 84.9%. The final approach to runway 18R was initiated from the north, with the aircraft heading 179.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,319 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 685 feet beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is slightly outside the optimal landing area. The touchdown speed of 148 knots was faster than the target speed, indicating that the pilot may have applied a bit more force than necessary during the landing. However, the touchdown rate of -318 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, suggesting that the aircraft was able to maintain control and stability during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 93°F and a wind speed of 6 knots from a direction of 150°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 5 knots. These conditions were relatively favorable for landing, and the pilot was able to maintain a perfect runway touchdown alignment.
The total landing distance of 5,901 feet was 48% of the available runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain control and stability during the rollout phase of the landing.
Overall, while the landing was not perfect, the pilot demonstrated good control and stability throughout the approach and landing phases. However, there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and distance from the touchdown zone.
