MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: off the runway's 3° glideslope.
At the 500 ft gate: off the runway's 3° glideslope.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,334 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,334 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 88 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A320, then departed from runway 04 at EHAM Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The takeoff distance was 1,628 meters, which accounted for 81% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 162 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 8 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 24 knots from a direction of 309 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 24 knots and a tailwind of 1 knot. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 2 miles northwest of Amstelveen, and reached a height of 18,122 feet above sea level, an increase of 17,105 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 24 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 10 miles northwest of Katwijk aan Zee, and lasted for 13 minutes, covering a distance of 66 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 36 miles northwest of Wenduine, and descended from 18,360 feet to 5,947 feet above sea level, a decrease of 12,413 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 60 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 8 miles east of Great Wakering, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 4 miles north of Eastchurch, and descended from 5,499 feet to 2,401 feet above sea level, a decrease of 3,098 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 23 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting overhead Aveley, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 27 at EGLC London City Airport, coming in from the east at a heading of 273.0 degrees and at an altitude of 1,780 feet above ground level, 3 nautical miles from the runway.
However, the aircraft was required to perform a go-around, touching down at an altitude of 16 feet above ground level. The aircraft then landed safely on runway 27, with a touchdown distance of 90 meters and a touchdown speed of 143 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was very heavy at -748 feet per minute, but the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 2 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 12 knots from a direction of 280 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 12 knots. The total landing distance was 1,031 meters, which accounted for 77% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 195 nautical miles, taking 72 minutes, and the aircraft used 2,746 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed on runway 27 at EGLC London City Airport, achieving an overall score of 87.3%. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 273.0° at a distance of 3 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,780 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was recorded at 141 kt, which is within the acceptable range. However, the touchdown speed of 143 kt was slightly higher than the recommended speed, indicating that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to achieve a smoother touchdown. The touchdown distance of 90 meters was considered good, but the high touchdown rate of -748 feet per minute (fpm) suggests that the aircraft may have touched down with a significant amount of energy, which could have put additional stress on the landing gear.
Despite the slightly high touchdown speed and heavy touchdown rate, the aircraft's runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft throughout the landing. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 2°C and a headwind of 12 kt, were not particularly challenging, and the pilot was able to navigate the aircraft safely to the runway.
The total landing distance of 1,031 meters was 77% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase and was able to bring the aircraft to a safe stop.
Overall, while there were some minor issues with the landing, such as the slightly high touchdown speed and heavy touchdown rate, the pilot's overall performance was satisfactory, and the aircraft landed safely on the runway.
