MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Departure
Reduce climb power to bring speed back to 174 kt and hold it there.
What happened: Climb speed was 30 kt fast at 204 kt during the climb.
Watch for: Airspeed indicator: 174 kt in the climb
Arrival
Fly a steeper descent on final so you cross the threshold at 50 ft.
What happened: You crossed the threshold at 61 ft agl, above the 50 ft agl target. Crossing high like this usually reduces your margin before the touchdown zone ends.
Watch for: Radio altimeter against 50 ft at the threshold.
See Arrival Landing
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,865 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 496 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from EDDC Dresden Airport, the Airbus A321 began its journey with a taxiing period of 14 minutes, covering 4 nautical miles to reach the runway. At 22, the aircraft took off, utilizing 1,124 meters, or 44% of the runway, to achieve liftoff at a speed of 168 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 9°C, with a wind speed of 12 knots from 300°, resulting in a crosswind of 11 knots and a headwind of 2 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to 24,012 feet above sea level, it covered 41 nautical miles in 9 minutes, increasing its altitude by 22,277 feet. The enroute climb phase was punctuated by several level cruise segments, including a 2-minute period at 24,010 feet above sea level, covering 11 nautical miles, and a 47-minute cruise at 37,740 feet above sea level, spanning 315 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, initially from 38,012 feet above sea level to 36,009 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,003 feet in 2 minutes, covering 10 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 23R at EGCC Manchester Airport was executed from the north-east, with a heading of 231.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,322 feet above ground level.
The Airbus A321 landed on runway 23R, utilizing 53% of the 2,434-meter runway, with a total landing distance of 1,287 meters. The touchdown point was 138 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 145 knots, which was slightly fast. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the runway rollout alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing featured a temperature of 13°C, with a wind speed of 34 knots from 230°, resulting in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 34 knots. The total flight distance was 707 nautical miles, taking 2 hours and 9 minutes, and the aircraft utilized 5,804 kilograms of fuel.
The final approach to runway 23R at EGCC Manchester Airport from the north east, heading 231.0° at 4 nm and 1,322 ft above ground level (agl), was initiated with a satisfactory approach quality. However, the threshold height at 62 ft agl was above the target, indicating a slightly higher than ideal approach path angle. The threshold speed of 159 kt was also higher than the desired value, which may have contributed to the slightly above-target threshold height.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 138 m beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 145 kt, which was fast. The touchdown rate of -124 fpm was smooth, indicating a well-controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, with the aircraft centered on the runway. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 13 °C and a headwind of 34 kt, likely played a significant role in the approach and landing.
The total landing distance of 1,287 m was 53% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, with the aircraft maintaining its centerline alignment throughout the rollout phase. Overall, the landing performance was satisfactory, with a score of 87.0%. While there were some areas for improvement, such as the threshold speed and touchdown speed, the pilot demonstrated good control and precision during the approach and landing.
