MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: off the runway's 3° glideslope.
At the 500 ft gate: off the runway's 3° glideslope.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 10,936 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,465 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight, which took place from Calgary International Airport, commenced with a taxi from the parking to the runway, a distance of 2 nm, covering a duration of 7 minutes. Upon reaching runway 35L at CYYC, the Vision Jet initiated its departure roll and took to the skies.
During takeoff, the aircraft achieved a liftoff speed of 94 kt and utilized 2,413 feet, or 19% of the available runway length. The conditions at the time were quite favorable, with a local temperature of 65°F and minimal wind, at a speed of 3 kt from a direction of 299°. The crosswind component was 3 kt, while the headwind component was just 1 kt.
Following a smooth takeoff, the aircraft began its enroute climb, departing from the vicinity of Calgary International Airport. As it gained altitude, the aircraft rose from an initial elevation of 4,575 feet to a maximum of 30,037 feet in just 20 minutes, covering a distance of 64 nm. The ascent showcased the Vision Jet's impressive climb capabilities.
Upon completion of the climb phase, the aircraft entered a prolonged cruise phase. Enroute level cruise began about six miles south of Clearwater River Airport Caroline and continued for an impressive 47 minutes, covering a distance of 223 nm. During this time, the aircraft maintained a stable altitude, capitalizing on its efficient fuel consumption.
As the crew prepared for the final descent, the aircraft started its descent protocol about 26 miles west of McBride Airport Charlie Leake Field. The aircraft then descended from an altitude of 30,580 feet to a final destination of 3,563 feet in under 19 minutes, covering a distance of 72 nm.
Upon reaching the vicinity of Prince George Airport, the aircraft embarked on the final approach to runway 15 from the north. At this stage, the aircraft's altitude was 1,332 feet, and it was positioned at an angle of 4 nm. Despite some issues with threshold height and speed, the final approach and landing were successful.
During the landing, the aircraft touched down at a distance of 1,366 feet, which was considered good. However, the touchdown speed was slightly elevated at 75 kt, while the touchdown rate was fair at -250 feet per minute. Moreover, the runway touchdown position was 47 feet away from the centerline, resulting in a slightly misaligned rollout.
Following a secure landing, the aircraft entered its taxiing phase, covering a distance of less than 1 nm in just 2 minutes, before finally reaching the parking area.
This comprehensive flight covered a total distance of 368 nm, consuming an estimated 695 pounds of fuel, and lasted for a total duration of 102 minutes.
Pilot Report for Vision Jet Landing at CYXS Prince George Airport
Pilot skills and knowledge have been evaluated in this landing, resulting in a score of 78.1%. The flight's final approach to runway 15 at CYXS Prince George Airport began from the north, a heading of 171.0° at 4 nautical miles (nm) and 1,332 feet above ground level (agl).
The landing itself, on a runway with a length of 10,936 ft, presented a few challenges. Notably, the threshold height at 86 ft agl was significantly above the target, indicating a potential misjudgment of altitude during final approach. Additionally, the threshold speed of 87 knots was too high for a safe and controlled landing, suggesting the pilot may have been relying too much on speed to compensate for potential difficulties.
In contrast, the touchdown distance of 1,366 ft was reasonable and within acceptable limits. However, touchdown speed at 75 kt was a little fast, indicating that the pilot may not have fully utilized all available deceleration during the final stage of landing. The rate of descent during touchdown was also fair, at -250 fpm.
Another significant concern in this landing is the runway touchdown position, which was misaligned by 47 ft from the centreline. This may have resulted from an inconsistent application of correction or an over-reliance on autopilot assistance during final approach. Local weather conditions, including a temperature of 52°F and a relatively mild wind speed of 4 kt at 340°, did not appear to pose a substantial challenge.
Considering the total landing distance, which consumed approximately 41% of the available runway, and the runway rollout alignment that was misaligned by another 49 ft from centreline, there are some clear areas of improvement for the pilot to work on. Nevertheless, the landing did result in a manageable recovery, demonstrating some adaptability and a certain level of proficiency in handling the Vision Jet under these specific conditions.
