MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 305 m and 152 m above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,590 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,590 m of the 2,114 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 622 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took just 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The Airbus A320 then departed from runway 09 at EGGD Bristol Airport, with a takeoff distance of 910 meters, which accounted for 48% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 129 knots, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 16°C, a wind speed of 2 knots at 270°, with a crosswind of 0 knots and a tailwind of 2 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of Bristol Airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead the airport and took the aircraft from 735 feet above sea level to 6,009 feet above sea level, an increase of 5,274 feet in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then began overhead Kingswood, lasting 3 minutes and covering 14 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time from 6,008 feet above sea level to 26,001 feet above sea level, an increase of 19,993 feet in 10 minutes, covering a distance of 47 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise then resumed, this time starting 4 miles west of Knighton and lasting 10 minutes, covering a distance of 73 nautical miles. As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent, which started 1 mile south of Walkden and took the aircraft from 26,000 feet above sea level to 2,373 feet above sea level, a decrease of 23,627 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 89 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then began again, this time overhead Stocksfield, lasting 2 minutes and covering 5 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 07 at EGNT Newcastle Airport was made from the south west, with the aircraft heading 65.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,385 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 07, which had a length of 2,114 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was well above the target at 143 knots. The touchdown point was 202 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 132 knots. The touchdown rate was firm at -336 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 6°C, a wind speed of 16 knots at 109°, with a crosswind of 12 knots and a headwind of 12 knots. The total landing distance was 1,505 meters, which accounted for 71% of the runway. However, the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 15.5 meters from the centreline. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area from the runway, a process that took 4 minutes and covered 1 nautical mile.
In total, the flight distance was 243 nautical miles, and the flight took 52 minutes, using 1,744 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed on runway 07 at EGNT Newcastle Airport, with a score of 89.6%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south west, heading 65.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,385 feet above ground level. The landing was executed on a runway with a length of 2,114 meters, and the threshold height was reported as good.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was significantly above the target speed, reaching 143 knots. However, the touchdown point was located 202 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 132 knots. The touchdown rate was firm, measuring -336 feet per minute, which is consistent with a controlled landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 6°C and a wind speed of 16 knots from a direction of 109°. The crosswind component was 12 knots, while the headwind component was also 12 knots. These conditions did not appear to significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance was 1,505 meters, which represents 71% of the runway length. While this is a relatively short landing distance, the runway rollout alignment was not perfectly aligned with the centerline, deviating by 15.5 meters. This minor deviation may be attributed to the aircraft's speed and control during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft touching down safely on the runway. However, there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and runway rollout alignment.
