Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,742 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 403 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Boeing 777-200ER taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, taking approximately 8 minutes and covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 26, with a takeoff distance of 2,018 meters, which accounted for 63% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 186 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time were a temperature of 37 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 18 knots at 270 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it began its enroute climb from Central City, Arizona, rising from 2,126 feet above sea level to 13,550 feet above sea level, an increase of 11,424 feet in just 7 minutes, covering a distance of 31 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, lasting 2 minutes and covering 10 nautical miles, before beginning another climb phase from 4 miles northwest of the Scottsdale Healthcare Thompson Peak Hospital Heliport in Scottsdale, Arizona. This climb phase saw the aircraft rise from 14,480 feet above sea level to 26,277 feet above sea level, an increase of 11,797 feet in 11 minutes, covering a distance of 68 nautical miles.
The aircraft continued its enroute climb phase, rising from 26,827 feet above sea level to 38,178 feet above sea level, an increase of 11,351 feet in 9 minutes, covering a distance of 61 nautical miles, before entering another level cruise phase from 3 miles north of Quartzsite, Arizona. This cruise phase lasted 2 minutes and covered 11 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another climb phase from overhead the Quail Mesa Ranch Airport in Parker, Arizona, rising from 26,827 feet above sea level to 38,178 feet above sea level, an increase of 11,351 feet in 9 minutes, covering a distance of 61 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a long level cruise phase, lasting 296 minutes and covering a significant distance of 2,228 nautical miles, from 9 miles northwest of the Julian Hinds Pump Plant Airstrip in Hayfield, California. As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent phase from 67 miles north of Haiku-Pauwela, Hawaii, descending from 38,766 feet above sea level to 1,313 feet above sea level, a decrease of 37,453 feet in 29 minutes, covering a distance of 126 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 04R at Daniel K Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, Hawaii, was made from the southwest, with a heading of 53.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,294 feet above ground level. The aircraft landed on the runway, with a touchdown distance of 405 meters, slightly above the target threshold speed of 136 knots. The touchdown speed was 134 knots, which was a little fast, and the touchdown rate was firm at -316 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.6 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 11 knots at 80 degrees. The crosswind was 5 knots, and the headwind was 9 knots. The total landing distance was 1,344 meters, which accounted for 49% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in 4 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 2,543 nautical miles, taking a total of 366 minutes, and the aircraft used 35
The Boeing 777-200ER aircraft successfully landed at PHNL Daniel K Inouye International Airport, achieving a score of 97.2%. The final approach to runway 04R was initiated from the southwest, with a heading of 53.0° at an altitude of 1,294 feet above ground level (agl) and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 134 knots, which was slightly above the target threshold speed of 136 knots. However, the touchdown distance of 405 meters was considered good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -316 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, suggesting a stable and controlled landing.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 4.6 meters, which may require some adjustments during the landing roll. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 26°C and a wind speed of 11 knots from a direction of 80°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 9 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,344 meters was 49% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft was well under control during the landing roll. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating good control and stability throughout the landing process.
