Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 10,998 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,804 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, taking approximately 8 minutes to cover less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 36C, with the aircraft lifting off at a speed of 149 knots after covering 3,915 feet, which was 39% of the runway length.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it reached an altitude of 5,992 feet above sea level, increasing by 4,289 feet in just 2 minutes while covering 5 nautical miles. The enroute climb started over the airport, and the aircraft continued to climb until it reached the desired altitude.
The enroute level cruise began 2 miles south of Cramerton, North Carolina, and lasted for 11 minutes, covering a distance of 47 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its descent over Southern Shops, South Carolina, and descended from 5,976 feet to 2,633 feet above sea level, a decrease of 3,343 feet in 7 minutes while covering 22 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, this time over Donaldson Field Airport in Greenville, South Carolina, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering 6 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 04 at Greenville Spartanburg International Airport was made from the southwest, with the aircraft heading 34.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,204 feet above ground level and 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing took place on runway 04, which was 10,998 feet long, with a good threshold height. The threshold speed was also good at 132 knots. The touchdown point was 1,415 feet beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 113 knots and a firm touchdown rate of -395 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 67 feet from the centerline.
The total landing distance was 4,165 feet, which was 38% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 77 feet from the centerline. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking approximately 4 minutes to cover less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 88 nautical miles, and the flight took 36 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 2,594 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 aircraft successfully landed at Greenville Spartanburg International Airport (KGSP) with a score of 76.9%. The final approach to runway 04 was initiated from the southwest, heading 34.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,204 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway, with a threshold speed of 132 knots being achieved, which is considered good. The touchdown point was located 1,415 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed of 113 knots was also within acceptable limits. The touchdown rate of -395 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, indicating a controlled descent.
However, there were some issues with the alignment of the aircraft during the landing. The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 67 feet from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach path. Additionally, the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 77 feet from the centreline, which could have been caused by a combination of factors including the initial misalignment and any corrective actions taken by the pilots during the rollout.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were mild, with a temperature of 54°F. The total landing distance of 4,165 feet was 38% of the available runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. Overall, while the landing was successful, there were some areas for improvement in terms of alignment and control during the rollout.
