MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,576 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,576 m of the 2,282 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,454 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Citation CJ3+, then departed from runway 21 at Perth International Airport (YPPH). The takeoff distance was 652 meters, which accounted for 19% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 135 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it started its enroute climb overhead Cloverdale, a location in the State of Western Australia, Australia. The climb began at an altitude of 1,073 feet above sea level and reached a maximum altitude of 39,356 feet above sea level, an increase of 38,283 feet in 22 minutes, covering a distance of 121 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 9 miles south of Kulin, another location in the State of Western Australia, Australia. This phase of the flight lasted for 177 minutes, covering a distance of 1,272 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 8 miles northeast of Lismore Airport in the State of Victoria, Australia. The descent from 38,259 feet above sea level to 1,687 feet above sea level, a decrease of 36,572 feet, took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 69 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 27 at Melbourne International Airport (YMML) was made from the east, heading 274.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,287 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 27 was successful, with the touchdown point being very long, using more than 50% of the available runway. The touchdown speed was 96 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was perfect at 15 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 7.3 meters from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 16 knots at 12 degrees. The crosswind was 16 knots, and the tailwind was 2 knots. The total landing distance was 1,818 meters, which accounted for 80% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 17.3 meters from the centreline.
After landing, the aircraft took 2 minutes to taxi to the parking from the runway, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,470 nautical miles, taking 222 minutes, and the aircraft used 1,056 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Citation CJ3+ aircraft, registered as N60US, successfully landed at Melbourne International Airport (YMML) on runway 27. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 274.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,287 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's performance during the landing was evaluated, and it scored 70.0%.
The approach and landing were conducted in a temperature of 15°C, with a wind speed of 16 knots from a direction of 12°. This resulted in a crosswind of 16 knots and a tailwind of 2 knots. The aircraft's touchdown speed was slightly above the target at 113 knots, but the touchdown speed at 96 knots was considered good. The touchdown rate was perfect at 15 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
However, there were some areas of concern during the landing. The threshold height at 110 feet agl was excessively over the target, suggesting that the aircraft may have been too high during the approach. Additionally, the touchdown point was very long, using more than 50% of the available runway. This may have been due to the aircraft's speed or the pilot's decision to extend the landing.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 7.3 meters from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 17.3 meters from the centreline. This suggests that the aircraft may have drifted off the centreline during the landing roll. Despite these issues, the total landing distance was 1,818 meters, which is 80% of the available runway length.
Overall, while the landing was successful, there were some areas of concern that need to be addressed to improve the aircraft's performance and safety. The pilot's decision-making and the aircraft's handling characteristics will need to be evaluated to determine the cause of these issues and to develop strategies for improvement.
