Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 300 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach that landed joined below the 300 ft gate, after a go-around. The gate assessed on the earlier approach is not shown - it was not the landing's.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,519 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,519 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 561 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the OV-10 Bronco taxiing from the parking area to the runway at KHQM Bowerman Airport, a process that took 4 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 06, with a takeoff distance of 1,014 meters, which accounted for 67% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 104 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of KHQM Bowerman Airport, it began its enroute climb, reaching an altitude of 2,449 feet above sea level from an initial height of 280 feet. This climb took 4 minutes and covered a distance of 14 nautical miles. The local weather conditions at the time were characterized by a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 270°.
The aircraft then began its first descent, which started 6 miles north of 94WA Wishkah River Ranch Airport Aberdeen. The descent took 2 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles, with the aircraft losing 799 feet in altitude. The next climb started 4 miles northeast of Humptulips, where the aircraft gained 822 feet in altitude over a distance of 6 nautical miles in 2 minutes.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise, lasting 2 minutes and covering 6 nautical miles, before beginning another climb 1 mile east of Amanda Park. This climb was the most significant, with the aircraft gaining 6,985 feet in altitude over a distance of 21 nautical miles in 7 minutes. The aircraft then entered another level cruise, lasting 3 minutes and covering 11 nautical miles, before beginning its descent 8 miles south of 7WA0 Big Andy Airport Port Angeles.
The descent took 2 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles, with the aircraft losing 2,887 feet in altitude. The next climb started 7 miles south of WN21 Lawson Airpark Port Angeles, where the aircraft gained 1,169 feet in altitude over a distance of 6 nautical miles in 2 minutes. However, the aircraft then began its final descent, losing 5,932 feet in altitude over a distance of 13 nautical miles in 6 minutes.
The final approach to runway 26 at KCLM William R Fairchild International Airport was from the east, with the aircraft heading 287.0° at 1 nautical mile and 1,488 feet above ground level. However, the aircraft went around, climbing to 602 feet above ground level. The aircraft then landed on runway 26, with a touchdown speed of 103 knots and a touchdown rate of -332 feet per minute. The touchdown point was 132 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 12.6 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 269°. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 2 knots. The total landing distance was 899 meters, which accounted for 59% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 14.7 meters from the centerline.
The flight then ended with the aircraft taxiing to the parking area from the runway, a process that took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 95 nautical miles, and the flight used 205 kilograms of fuel.
The OV-10 Bronco aircraft successfully landed at KCLM William R Fairchild International Airport, but the landing was not without some issues. The aircraft scored 75.8% on its landing, indicating that there were some areas for improvement. The final approach to runway 26 was made from the east, heading 287.0° at 1 nm and 1,488 ft above ground level (agl).
The landing itself was on runway 26, which has a length of 1,519 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was excessively high at 131 knots. This suggests that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to reduce the touchdown speed. The touchdown point was 132 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a significant deviation from the intended landing spot.
The touchdown speed of 103 knots was also fast, indicating that the pilot may have been able to reduce the speed more effectively during the flare. The touchdown rate was firm at -332 feet per minute (fpm), which is within the normal range for a landing. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 12.6 meters from the centerline, which could have been due to a slight deviation in the approach or a miscalculation of the landing spot.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 16°C and a wind of 2 knots at 269°. The crosswind was minimal at 1 knot, and the headwind was 2 knots, which would have helped to stabilize the aircraft during the landing.
The total landing distance was 899 meters, which is 59% of the runway length. This is a relatively long landing distance, indicating that the pilot may have been able to reduce the speed more effectively during the flare. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 14.7 meters from the centerline, which could have been due to a slight deviation in the approach or a miscalculation of the landing spot.
Overall, while the landing was successful, there were some areas for improvement, including reducing the threshold speed, touchdown speed, and landing distance. With some adjustments to the approach and flare, the pilot could have achieved a more precise and efficient landing.
