Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,548 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 409 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Diamond DA40 taxied from the parking area to the departure runway, a movement that lasted 16 minutes and covered 1 nm.
The aircraft commenced its departure roll on runway 24 at KHQM Bowerman Airport, achieving lift-off after a takeoff distance of 514 m, which represented 34 % of the runway, at a speed of 76 kt. Local weather conditions were temperature 16 °C, wind 6 kt from 210 ° with a 4 kt crosswind and a 4 kt headwind.
Climb began overhead KHQM, with the airplane ascending from 402 ft asl to 1 993 ft asl, a gain of 1 592 ft in 3 minutes while covering 5 nm.
The first level cruise commenced 3 miles south of KHQM and continued for 21 minutes, during which the aircraft covered 41 nm.
Descent started 3 miles north of Astoria, Oregon, with the aircraft descending from 2 000 ft asl to 974 ft asl, a loss of 1 027 ft in 2 minutes over a distance of 3 nm.
A subsequent level cruise began 2 miles north-west of Astoria and lasted 3 minutes, covering 5 nm.
The final approach to runway 26 at KAST Astoria Regional Airport was flown from the east on a heading of 277.0 ° at 1 nm and 414 ft agl, then descending from 682 ft agl to 34 ft agl in 65 seconds; the approach was scored on the stabilisation gates.
The aircraft landed on runway 26, whose length is 1 548 m, with a threshold speed of 67 kt. Touchdown occurred 407 m down the runway at a speed of 63 kt and a vertical rate of -32 fpm; runway touchdown alignment was perfect. Local weather at the time was temperature 17 °C, wind 6 kt from 190 °, a 6 kt crosswind and no headwind. Total landing distance was 660 m, representing 43 % of the runway.
Runway rollout alignment was very good.
After landing, the Diamond DA40 taxied to the parking area, a movement that lasted 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nm.
Overall, the flight covered 59 nm, took 36 and used 10 kg of fuel.
The final approach to runway 26 at KAST Astoria Regional Airport was flown from the east on a heading of 277.0° at 1 nm and 414 ft agl. The aircraft descended from 682 ft agl to 34 ft agl in 65 seconds and was scored on the stabilisation gates.
At threshold the height was reported as good and the threshold speed was good at 67 kt.
Touchdown occurred 407 m down the runway; the touchdown speed of 63 kt was noted as fast, the vertical rate was perfect at minus 32 fpm and runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 660 m, representing 43 % of the 1,548 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was very good. Local weather was 17 °C with wind 6 kt from 190°, giving a 6 kt cross-wind and no head-wind.
Reduce the touchdown speed to bring it closer to the target by refining flare timing and ensuring the aircraft is fully settled before touchdown; maintaining the already strong alignment and rate will preserve the overall good performance reflected in the 75.8 % score.
